Iam battling between finishing my ej9 up to a standard i would enjoy, or possibly buying a ef9 SIR. I have so many parts for the ej, a b18c6 with s80 4.7 gearbox, mugen intake. full 2.5 exhaust system but i know id have to put another grand to get everything in and buy engine mounts etc.

The reason im asking as the ef9 will hold its value where the ej9 whatever you have done to it will always just be a ej9 shell therefore youd never get the money you put into it back.

Does a ef9 have double wishbone suspension? does it handle as good as the 96-00 civic?

Is it still easy to source parts for the ef9 like wheel bearing and so forth.

finnish your project, at least once its done its done. if you dont and you break it up, you may regret it in future

can always buy the sir later

I'm a ef9 and ef8 owner

Ef's will only go up in value, buying one from Japan standard one you are easily looking at 9k plus right now that's not including customs, fee's an all sorts

Talking about handling you ain't gonna get a better handling car then these, light extremely nimble and a complete powerhouse

I have had an driven loads of vtec's but nothing will match the Ef's

he will always have that what if though ;) most people do

Thing is though i had the b18c6 in a ek3 beforehand but he arches were rusty so i decided to re-shell.

Half way through im sortoff having second thoughts and so tempted by that ef9 sir thats for sale at the moment.

How hard is it to obtain general wear and tear parts? cv joint etc.

what chassis is interchangeable parts for the ef? like eg can use dc2 running gear?

That top video if anything made me want a ae86 id love a modded one, but wouldnt want the crappy bhp of a standard one.

Cv joints are easy to get, tre's are a dealer part only

Bumpers an stuff like that have been discontinue by honda

Tre's? was just wondering what id need to watch out for if i became an ef owner :p as id want to keep it mint.

ef all the way imo, and if its the ef from the for sale section then that car looks stunning

Only thing putting me off is sourcing parts and when watching BMI's EF9 they did keep saying about how its got a reputation of being dangerous.

It's mint.

Most of the parts are same for Civic's and Teg's from 88-00.

Balljoints, CV joints, bushes etc.

Just a few things are different (top arms, front hub bearing, TRE's). Again most can be had from local motor factors for not too much.

I've had a B16A, B18C and now B20BVTEC in my other EF9. Gearbox wise they run cable but pretty easy to convert to hydro. I've had Y1, S80 and now S9B in my black EF9.

Suspension wise, I run KW Variant 2 from an ITR my EF9.

So yeh, pretty much everything is interchangeable.

Also, the green one is converted to OBD1 from the very outdated OBD0 so that headache is out of the way.

They handle and look so much better IMO and being an import it's rust free (most UK ones are rotted) and once they're rust proofed you're covered on that front for a long time.

Tre stands for track rod ends, nothing really mate just keep on top of the wear and tear that's all

Everyone has this thought during a project and its normal. The best thing is you're at the stage now where you can change before you get in too deep and need to finish.

Go with your gut instinct, the Ef will make you alot happier than a modded/swapped Ej. Don't forget you could be also looking at Dc2's/Ek's too!

yup, same with all small 90's honda's. there is a reason they are light, they don't take impacts well due to the thin cabin pillars and the cabin being the crumple zone.
