Intermitent hesitation, rpm counter dying on over run


It's been to the ring and back on the old setting so although that's also a guess it's clearly not too dangerous.
Will be getting tuned again March time with any luck and no track time booked till then anyway. It's not my daily so it's not going far.

The few extra degrees advance make such a difference to the power output? Truely surprised how much faster it is after changing the dizzy yesterday.
 
Would good practice dictate that it should be set to stock 16deg? With turbo or without?
 
16degrees is the stock base timing yes. So no matter what's on the engine set it too 16d before any tuning happens.
Then you don't get stuck in my situation, essentially needing a new tune because you don't know what the timing was pre-tune.
