My details for starters,
21, 4 years no claims, full license over 3 years and a decent area.
I let my insurance run out the last time as i didn't have the money to reinsure my car and my car was supposed to be sold so went under the parents insurance till now as thats up this week I started to look for a quote.
For starters tried my old insurer and they said they wouldn't reinsure me. What a load of bulls*it i thought.
Sat down on the computer for a good hour and tried the online insurance quote and the only one i could get was â¬3000 off Britton Insurance. ( too much )
Then i got the pen and paper out, took down all the major insurer's and brokers number.
Rang everyone and got a few nice to dreadful quotes.
Cheapest was off a crowd in Galway 2120 with an excess off 350 BUT NO OPEN DRIVE.
Chill.ie came in second with 2358 BUT WITH NO OPEN DRIVE.
First Ireland in third with two quotes off different people in the company of 2600 and 3250.
One or two other ones in between but the worst was off some broker stuart something or other... OVER â¬7000!!!! (You can imagine the reply she got on the phone!)
Cheapest I got was through a friend who works in a major insurer of 2035 with open drive.
All the above quotes are for third party fire and theft.
My advice for anyone looking to insure a ek9 in Ireland is shop around!!! BIG TIME!!!! And the brokers are more inclined to give you a quote than any of the major insurers. The reason I mentioned none of the major insurers is cause they all said no and to my suprise one didn't even know what a Type R was.
