Hi guys im picking up ek9 next weekend and just wonder how much it would cost to insure as i just got my license

You haven't put a deposit down on it have you? An ek9 for a first car is too much! I struggled to insure mine with 2 years ncb at 20.

I would advise against it, buy a 1.4 ej9 if you want something similar.

the car belonged to a family friend who has left the country and has transfer the ownership into my name

insuring an ek9 at 17 you will be lucky to even get touched

You'll be keeping it on the drive as an ornament mate, you won't get insured on a grey import car at the age of 17 lol...... or if you do get insured it'll be around £5000 plus £2000 excess.

Who gives a 5k car away for free?
Abit of waffle going on here I think.

the guy who owned the car has left the country moved to Dubai he known me and my family for years the car was a gift for me achieving good grades on my gcse's

As said. You won't be getting insured unfortunately. Unless its a high number that you can afford?

lool 17!! only thing you be driving is small clio or corsa even that if your lucky because you going to pay around £2k for them maybe!

Its hard to insure ek9's and tbh get some driving experience before jumping in a 9 :)

Ek9 could end up being his coffin at 17.
Does depend on how mature he is obviously, but at 17 if I had a 9 I would be dead. Along with a few innocent people no doubt.

Your looking about 2.5-3k when your 19 and have a few no claims.

You're telling me you've not done an insurance quote? Or your parents haven't done one to find out what it's going to cost?
How long you had the car? You even got your exam results yet?

This has to be. :troll:

Or maybe its just an EJ9 and he is mistaken. In that case still gonna be £2000 + I'd reckon.

Picture of the free ek9?
With your name on a piece of paper so its not a google image

Family member moved to Dubai ... Given it for Free.

Sounds like a Rich family to me, Probably can easily afford to insure it.

EK9 for good G.C.S.E's :wow:

So Good A Levels = Evo 9

1st or 2/1 Degree = 911 Turbo

Rock on Tommy :D

Fair enough.
Just cause he's 17 doesn't mean he's a wreck less idiot that can't drive.

You will get insured, it will just be dear.
Good luck with it and be safe :)

My first car now is a Honda Jazz 1.4 and my insurance is like 2.5K+ and I'm not even the main driver..

Get something cheaper to insure first.. don't go straight for a 9..

I'm not saying you will crash but being 17 and owning a Type R.. we all know sometimes people will become silly and sometimes immature and because you don't have any experience, you will end up being involved in an accident.

i had an a 242bhp eg6 when i was 17 with no problems, insured correctly with all mods declared, i payed for it but they never asked me how mature i was when i was looking for a quote! you will struggle especially if your in the UK im in ROI insurance isnt as expensive!

As above-it's surely an ej9 or the likes, pop up a picture and we'll tell you if it's insurable or not.
