alright, just joined this tonight as i am two minds what to do atm, currently have a glanza turbo, great car but getting a bit bored of it ...i am unsure if i want an ek9 as i have always liked them or go tdo4 on the glanza *-)

but hey anyway ! really good forum from reading threads people seem helpfull enough

anyone went from turbo to vtec ? how would you rate it ?

Nice Glanza bud. Used to have one and loved it. Just didnt like the handling in them. Cant go wrong with an ek9 good all round car, but those glanzas are some craic in straight lines.

i know mate i really wanna go tdo4 and dont get me wrong the handling isnt what i would call bad by any means but theres something about 9's i just love but like u said in a straight like they are just bonkers for what they are had a few scoobys ep3's boxters etc when i decide to actually go for it ...will miss it though if i do go for a 9
 
BOOST! Upgrade that turbo! It will probably be more cost effective, but I don't know your finances. Just my opinion.
 
I know mate cheaper to tune that most cars but i still dnt know what to do aghh haha want a 9 so bad mate

cheers mate :) u on gold wheels now btw not sure if i seen you at strathy park the other day had the same stickers up tilted spoiler and same sticker on front window ...probs wasnt you though :p
 
If you want top handling and you like lots of revs and changing gear = 9

The 9 will feel very gutless after turbo power. std for std the starlet will be faster i think.

And very expensive for little gains compared to FI cars.

This is the opinion of a non honda fanboy, but somone who has driven many sorted FF

cars.

HF int, Clio RS, Focus RS,ect.

Really ? i though standard the 9 would have been that little bit quicker my starlet only has an apexi filter and spec II so i doubt there would be too much difference and ye i do enjoy the noise of hondas and the clean look alot of people go for ...just though maby its time for something new you know ? but thanks for the comment mate :D

cheers for all the welcome lads :) sad to say i cant get insured on a 9 :( sky are phoning me back tomorrow to give me a quote but I'm not too optimistic tbh :(:(:(

firstly sorry for the essay :p

TBH mate i don't know why lee said that...

EK9 vs Glanza V = no competition..

a few years back i owned an Ek4 Vti.. std car.. and at the same time my frined owned a glanza V..

both cars were standard, we used to race all the time ( private road :p ) literally for about 2 - 3 years :)... the VTI would pull on the glanza after about 80Mph but was always about a car length ahead of the glanza from take off.. We then did the boost over ride for 1st and 2nd gear in the glanza and then raced again ( many times over all seasons of the year ) the Vti EK4 and the Glanza were pretty much exactly the same up to 80Mph literally about a foot in it. then the civic would pull away quite drastically..

both car's were in top condition the vti had 55,000 miles on it and the glnaza had 40,000 miles on it..

bare in mind the Ek4 Vti has a 0 - 60 time of 7.5 - 7.7 ish seconds as standard so the glanza is not far off this with the boost mod in 1st and 2nd gear..

I then bought an EK9 and raced this same glanza... Completely different.. the 0 - 60 time of the EK9 standard is 5.9 - 6.1 seconds.. :wow:

by 60 Mph i was 5 car lengths ahead maybe more... by the time i am up in the 100's he is literally 50 - 60 Metres behind.. a small dot in the mirror lol...

Seriously dude you cannot compare a glanza V to an EK9.. td04 on the glanza running 160hp + maybe it'll be fairer but then you'd have to add a very trick suspension setup with an LSD to get anywhere near the hanlding of an EK9... and remember after all of this the EK9 i own is completely stock ( apart from an air filter ;) )

take a test drive of an EK9 and you will remember my statement.. No competition lol.. hope this helps dude.


bang for your buck the glanza is great... a nice exhuast and a td04 and you are laughing... trying to extract 30 + hp from an EK9 is expensive to do properly..

cheers topher ! i thought as much but ive never raced one or properly seen a 9 go so didnt want to be cheeky and be like ehh hold on haha ...i always thought a nine would be faster, and a starlet would never come near a 9 in the bends but a good tdo4 setup running around 220bhp the starlet would always win in a straight line but bends is a different story like you say.

noone i know owns a 9 so i cant take one out haha never even sat in one...take a trip to glasgow for me ...ill give u a fiver petrol lmao :p ...noone will insure me mate so i think the idea of a 9 is out the window :(

ive tried bell,admiral,adrian flux basically all the biggish and most common ones and nothing sky are giving me a ring tommorow as i noticed one of their lads on here said they insure under 25's on 9's but i doubt very much i will get a decent quote tbh mate :((( really quite gutted they think everyones gonny drive like a maniac :(

Shame you can't get insured mate thats where the glanza's are fantastic.... there are a lot of cool chaps up that way mate i'm sure someone will be nice enough to take you out dude..

tbh i can't imagine 220 Hp in a stripped out glanza... :wow: scary stuff lol.
i'm guessing you know about the boost override in 1st and 2nd. ?? if not i'd be happy to explain .. don't mean to sound patronising i genuinely mean what i say dude no offence meant at all.
