Im just wondering if it would be worth bringing a jap import on Irish plates to the uk.
If i was to head over for a work placement, would there be any vrt to be paid changing over to uk plates, and would there be much bother with it being a jap import and not an original irish car.

You shouldnt have any problems about it being a Jap Import. I think you are allowed run Irish plate for 6 months but it depends on insurers.
As for regerstering it as a UK car its not that hard or expencive. Just the registration fee of £55 then tax and MOT but its alot dearer to reverse and go back to Irish plates so i hear.

Gav EK9 is the guy to speak to about this , he has own half of the EK9s imported to Ireland Lol :p

I dont think that anything has to be paid when your bringing it back to Ireland because the vrt would have been already paid on it here. I read it somewhere recently but im sure that somebody will confirm this

Yup! Gav is the man you need to get in touch with about this!! He loves taking mint ek9s from us :( hahaha

Ah maybe its when you take a UK registerd car over thats has never been registered in Irealnd before that it costs a boom Lol

pretty sure you only have to pay vrt once when bringing a car into the south.

You just have to pay the £80 to register it as a uk car mate, but if you where taking it from the UK into the south it would be about £800
