OK bit of a conundrum. I bought some supposed Spoon springs and dampers off someone and I'm unsure if they are genuine.
The dampers are older Tokico manufactured ones with a Spoon stamp so they're legit but the springs are black with no markings of any kind and look just like the Factory springs?
Did Spoon ever make black springs??? All the pics I can find are of blue springs.

TIA

iirc the 1st gen spoon coilovers came with spoon springs, but the yellow spoon fixed dampers should be used with the blue proggresive spoon springs!

I think I've been had. Did 4 hours round the M25 in the pissing rain last night to get these.

HHhhmmm. The springs I have are nothing like those black spoon springs Mister S has posted and have no spoon markings at all. Hmmmm. They look just like original honda springs.

Kozy- I thought Spoon dampers were made by Showa but these clearly have a Tokico stamp.

I don't know much about Tokico, but what I have read suggests that they are not up to Spoon standards...

did you pay spoon damper and spring price ? the best thing to do would be to take a picture and ask spoonsports europe on here they will get back to you straight away and will be able to tell you just to be 100%

Sam dosent work for SpoonSportsEurope anymore, so not sure if anyone has taken over managing the account yet.

The progressive springs were black until around 1999-2000, they changed them when the S2000 was released to be blue, but because the black springs were mass manufactured they were still selling them for years after they officially changed colour, so could not be that old either. Think someone had the same query before.

Make of these what you will. There are no markings on the springs to suggest they are spoon.

They did make them in black as i had a set and i now have another set in blue on my car at the mo.

Im prity sure those aint spoon springs. Duno about the shocks though.

The coil should tighten up towards the top, im assuming that it what is meant by a progressive spring. Also they should sit the car around 25-30mm lower than std springs.

The seller is handling this like a gentleman and is going to give me my money back. Crisis averted!

Good result!

I can't say whether they are Spoon, but they definately aren't progressive! That stamping on the damper looks suspect too...

As people have said, the dampers have always been made by Showa as long as I remember, so the Tokico seems suspicious, they are exactly the same colour, etc though.

I cant remember the Spoon springs in black being branded, alot of Spoons old stuff was never branded with their name, Im pretty sure they only changed it when they changed colour to blue, and yes the drop is around 20-25mm, but as mentioned if the actual dampers are different then springs dont matter!
