hey im thinking of purchasing a B16A from a seller on here, i hope the seller doesnt mind im making this thread. i am no way saying he is lying etc, i just want to double check im not buying the wrong engine. Thanks the the help in Advance.

As long as the engine is a OBD1 b16a, the second generation from a eg sir then everything is perfect. Can anybody help me identify it as it doesnt have an engine code stamped on the block.

Ive done a bit of research and its the rocker cover from a gen 2 B16a but im a bit sceptical of the intake manifold. is there any 1 here with a sir that could compare the two?

Thanks, Dan

I have an SIR (B16A) and yes, same IM as B16A2 etc. Get the seller to take a picture of the engine code, engraved on the front of the block.

B16A has 2 generations! 1st gen is 160bhp B16A, OBD0 IIRC, while the other is 2nd gen, with OBD1 IIRC. Both also had a different gearbox mated, the 2nd gen had a hydraulic box. Both engines can respectively be compared to the B16A1 and B16A2.

ye thats correct, its hard to identify between first and second gen as i was a bit sceptical as the engine code/ id number are non existant on this exact engine. And i didnt want to accidently purchase a OBDO first gen b16a as that would make it a ball ache to put in my ej. Wiring up the OBD1 secon gen version isnt such a big task.

The engine you have/are buying is obd1. The only difference between obd1 and obd2 is the distributor.
