How to repair a used B16B to achieve 185bhp

Hi i am new in the forum and i am doing savings to buy an ek9. Not decided yet if import or buy here in UK. I visited Duncan at his house to see 2 cars and he told me no one had an already repaired engine. My concern is how to find a car with good engine and if it is almost impossible.. what kind of repair is possible to do so i can make it almost brand new. An important point is, i don't feel satisfied just tuning the ECU, air intake and exaust i would like to keep the engine as health and stock as possible and then think about updates.

My B16B made 181bhp at a very trustworthy dyno. Apparently the ones that smoke are more powerful as they are looser, less frictional losses.

Im not sure what you are actually after...but you could rebuild to stock specs for around £1000
