How to remove and clean:
If you have a front strut brace it's easiest to work on the IACV by removing it. I also remove the air intake pipe for more room and to clean port on throttle body from which air flows to IACV. The IACV is located at rear of intake manifold as shown in image below. Start by removing the 2x 12mm bolts. Next you will need to remove both coolant hoses place a cloth under iacv as some coolant will spill out when you remove these. Using a pliers squeeze the clips and slide them down along the hoses. You can now pull the hoses free from iacv. Last step of removing the iacv is to disconnect the connector plug.

Using some spray cleaner i.e carb cleaner spray inside the two ports. Continue to do this until no more dirty fluid comes out and the screen filter is completely clean. Once you’re done cleaning out the IACV let it air dry for approx 20mins.

I also spray some cleaner thru the port inside throttle body which directs air to IACV.
Reassemble:Follow reverse order of removal.

Could be iacv related, no harm to clean it out and see if things improve

very good guide feel happy doing myself , with regards to the coolant pipes if you just refit the iacv connect pipe and run the engine then check coolant and top up where nesscary ? or will it need to be bled etc :S

Run the car up to temp and turn heaters on full heat then let car cool and top up rad if needed.

Car has been suffering recently with high Idle and when adjusting throttle
body Idle screw to compensate stalling as the revs drop off too quickly.

Cleaned my IACV over the weekend using this guide and now I have no high Idle, target 850 Rpm Idle seems to be achieved very quickly, and is stable too.

Thanks for the write up. :nice:

used this guide yesterday for the first time and was one of the sole reasons i decided to register to the forum to say thanks ! car is perfect !

haha i only did this yesterday, very easy job to do and makes a nice difference if your experiencing trouble

When I come to a complete stop my revs should be around 1000rpm, but for some mysterious reason (only recently) its dropping to around 100rpm, it sounds like it is about to die. Could this guide help that problem??
