how come some sir/vtis are as quick as a type r and even faster

thanks for your input guys:thanks: and yes if i do start modifying then a b18c is defo the way im going but i am still undecided as im gettin sick of throwin thousands at cars but i said that with my last car too:lol:

but yes ive only raced one sir ek civic with induction decat and exhaust
and i was in need of a service with just a hks cat back and to be side by side was fair enough in a way!

but sayin this im prob expectin too much from my type r as i my old glanza with decat, manifold and induction at stock boost was side by side with a ek vti till 100mph and that civic had aem v2.header,decat and cat back

so i think its fair to say b18c is the true way forward:naughty:

before i turbod my b16a2 i was running 197bhp in my b16a2 and was beating 9s and ep3s all time mate. these engines you can do soo much with. crazy

get a set of iridium plugs

BKR6EIX-11

and a good quality oil like castrol, motul or silkolene with a HAMP oil filter

also if your using a standard airbox get something like a spoon replacment panel filter

and a genuine honda feul filter

should be using 7's in a Type R engine:nice:

I totally agree with your last statement!! smokey vtecs are best!:drive: my mate Cal on this forum had an EK4 with a B16A2 in it and it had about 100 odd k miles on it and it went likt stink!!! it would burn about a litre of oil every few days and blue smoke everywhere but it was a legendary car! we called it the evil mobeel!! lol
it ran about a 15 dead at crail and he smoked alot of "so called" faster cars in it. all it had done was skunk2 stage 1 cams (not tuned/mapped or anything or uprated springs or retainers, etc) short arm induction kit, HKS manifold, decat and skunk2 exhaust!

so why is it that smokey vtecs are better?? my ek9 at the min lets a puff of smoke out of it the odd time n it looks bad when it happens so is it anything to worry about or should i go in get it cured???

Duno bout that one my EG6 b16a hardly smokes at all it ran around 14.5s all day with a best of 14.22s and that was with a standard b16a just a full system, ss 4-2-1 and rear seats removed. (Std UK P30 ECU)

as the lads said dave good service can go a long way in a b16b as for ya bairly beaten an sir all depends on driver engine condition ect ect i no of vtis beating type rs no problem some are just quicker than others!! plugs as kev said bkr7eix is what i used in my b16b and now in my b18 no problems oil id personally go for silkolene pro s 5w-40 its costly at the end of the day its your engine well worth minding it

the worst thing about b16b is it's tranny. The same with b16a. It struggles to get on vtec in every gear change. So if you don't shift just before the limiter then you fell of vtec.
a tuned b16a can reach easily the performance of a b16b. So if yours isn't serviced properly, there you go.
