Guys, was doing the timing belt swap yeaterday when the air hammer snapped the crank pulley bolt. This bolt is a 14mm with a fine metric thread and costs £14 from Honda but my local dealer said he wouldnt be able to get one for a week!!!

Such bad news, changed the belt fine and the waterpump and tensioner and then this happens - my baby is out of action and i am very upset :(

19mm is the size of a crank pulley bolt, unless yours is a aftermarket one

I would imagine all aftermarket cranks to use that size to be honest.

Bit of confusion here ! Swanman is right its a M14 bolt with a 19mm head , 31mm long.

You must have done well to snap that!

Forget airtools or the special socket. Pikey it.. big screwdriver to hold the flywheel still and a big bar on the pulley bolt. Works a treat.

they're both right, its a M14 (iso metric BS) size nut but we would stick a 19mm socket over it! :p

Yeah managed to get it sorted, Ellis my mate happened to have a civic engine lying about... lol and donated this very rare bolt to the cause. We did airgun it back on but only a tiny blast with extensions from gun to bolt as opposed to direct attached. Think we missed out a part of the process when tensioning the belt though, as the part that goes from the cam to the crank wasnt as taught as the whole other side (crank to tensioner to WP to cam)... and the idle seems to be a bit less than it was before we did the work, but that might be paranoia... i just drove it 40 miles and it seemed ok, using VTec aswell, all seemed ok. So pleased.

:secret:
