As the title states has anyone got one fitted ?

If so where did you get it from ?

Im in two minds about what to do i have been told that for a mildy tuned engine a Hi flow cat is ok e.g wont hold back to many horses.

What puts me off having a de-cat is having to mess about with the exhaust come M.O.T time. I mean is it a big pain in the ass ? Do you have to change the gaskets everytime u swap the cat in and out ?

If anyone can shead some light on how long it takes to change there cat for the M.O.T that would be great.

Plus i want to go to a 2.5 bore and my old cat wont be this size so i would have to buy an EK9 cat for M.O.T's.

Are they hard to get hold of and is the DC2 cat the same ???

I run a 2.5 bore stainless steel hi flow sports cat, its a 150 cells per sq inc and I got mine fiitted by a local custom exhaust maker Copyright Advanced Automotive Systems Ltd. 2006 it cost me about £200fitted.

I did have a spoon N1 and b pipe bolted to it but I've got a twin loop now
and the car feels much better to drive.

As for mot's I don't change the cat over.

:nice:
Did the same thing recently. No annoying noises anymore :p

As for the mots, you only have to swap the original cat over once a year. To me its not a big fuss as it only take a little bit of time to change them over.
There is a downfall to a decaat though, Some may argue that the decat is illegal, but imo i think its prob the part of the exhaust system to change to see results.

Just get a decat pipe, it takes about 20mins to change over at mot time.i always change the gaskets as i make them at my work but you could prob get away with leaving them.
decat pipes sound much better than the hi flow car in my opinion. ive always run a decat, my mate has a high flow cat and it dosent sound as crisp as it does with a decat if you know what i mean.
cheers

just get a decent high flow exhaust i had a de-cat on my js but now gone back to standard and hav'nt noticed a massive difference between the two. if it was me and i didnt want to run the car with a standard cat id get a de-cat as its cheaper than a highflow cat

cal it's ok you saying it only take's 20mins to change, its the f@@k on with having to get gaskets all the time it's ok for you if you can make them at work.

you should make them and sell them on the forum.

I agree with babyface I know my car sounds awsome with the twin loop and high flow cat

Could be a plan

When my last motor got written off I had a real arse of a time trying to change my decat before they took the car - I was nowhere near my house, and they wanted it real quick. My insurance didnt cover it. For the gains - unless you are going all out, are not worth it. Never again.

AAS make some very good systems, as do Pro-Speed. Custom is good but I think Ben is looking for an off the shelf recommendation?

remember too that if you just fit high flowing exhaust, intake etc or even just de-cat alone. then your car WILL run lean!

its purely down to you

i cant run any kind of cat due to my setup but if i could i would love to run high flow cat (id loose couple bhp max so you aint gonna notice) for 2 reasons

1) cat will reduce noise as decat add lot of noise
2) mot headache (im ok but this is pain for lot of people)

there aren't many company's make an off the shelf cat for the EK9 that will
bolt straight on, the only one I know of is sard and they are expensive.
what ben can do is maybe see if there is any custom exhaust maker in or around his area and get a price.

i got a skunk2 test pipe wich i think is the same as the high flow cat. i don't know if it bolt right up with the stock exhaust i got the whole cat back from skunk2.
Racing Test Pipe
