I would disagree and say they do work. But like anything there is good and bad make/brands. I use NF octane booster which was rated highly so much so that half a bottle is more potent than using a full bottle of other known good brands. I use a half bottle of NF with full tank of 95ron petrol in my impreza sti type r and when Andy Forrest mapped it he was able to advance the timing a good bit more from what he would have mapped 95ron petrol with no octane booster so for me it was well worth using it as those extra degree's gained me 50bhp. If we had 99ron available over here I wouldn't need to use but unfortuality we don't:((

Perhaps when my brother tried the additive it didn't work out so well because he was already running on 99 Ron, it was the most expensive brand we could find though. Must be expensive for you though! Cost about £20 per jerrycan when we used it!
 
Its not always the most expensive that's the best! I pay 14euro for a bottle of NF octane booster which contains 300ml. Its said that a 3rd of the bottle is enough for one full tank(100ml) but I add half the bottle(150ml) every full tank just to be sure. Takes 65-70euro petrol to fill the tankl+half bottle NF 7euro so its costing me roughly 72-77euro per fill which is high and even worse I only get like 250miles to that full tank:angry:
 
I know that low RON in JDM high compression engines can fcuk everything. Thought a b16 would be ok as it is N/A?

A bloke who manufacturers and researches biofuel fuel system components told me most fuel blends have a lot of stuff in them you wouldnt think e.g. that apparently Tesco use quite a lot of bioethanol in their high RON fuels :-O

point is a fuel's Research Octane Number is only one bit of a bigger picture of the quality of that fuel. Obv forecourt ones meet UK standards e.t.c. but, unless its dodgy high silica content tesco value, I guess its down to what the driver thinks feels the best in their car... unless you're in a WRX then its V-power or the AA :)
