help needed

Just after putting a engine in a integra track car when I went to swing it the braided hose on the clutch line started to smoke and got very hot only that pipe none of the pipes either side of it were hot. Anyone ever see anything like this happen before
 
Never seen this but the only thing I can think of is the line touching the positive terminal on the starter motor creating a short.
 
Either that or heat transfer from being too close to the exhaust?
 
As rob says.
It's got to be a short running through the line. Really odd for that to happen though
 
I would be willing to bet your engine earths are ineffective or missing, and the engine earthed through the braided line.
I've made this mistake myself
