I have been having a problem with my 9 for about a month now!

Every so often my engine check light has been coming on, when it does come on the car runs really lumpy and feel’s like it’s struggling! If I switched the car off then back on agen the light had gone and the car ran fine agen!

This problem has been getting more and more frequent over the past week until last night on my way to work it came on agen so I parked my car up for the night thinking it would ok agen when I finished work in the morning, but it wasn’t the light is still on and the car is running like a bag of ****! I also noticed quite a strong smell of fuel, and using a lot of fuel too!:((

So I have left the 9 at home tonight, and will investigate more tomorrow when im off work!

I know I can get it plugged in and checked but that will cost plus the nearest Honda dealer is at least 20min’s drive! And I don’t really want to be driving it like it is!

Has anyone any idea to what could be causing this??????
I was thinking along the line of it being the O2 sensor????

Any advice would be a great help!
Thanks in advance guy’s!!

The O2 sensor is what i have been thinking all along but cash has been a little short over the past month or two:angry: So i have been putting it off, but look's like ill have to be going the the bank of my brother! lol.

Ill know for defo tomorow anyway!:)
Ill keep this post updated.:secret:

o2 sensor's are not that expensive, you just have to get them from the right place...

Hey JimBob! hows it going dude?
Ive got an O2 sensor you can HAVE for free!, you just need to pay postage if you like? :nice: only thing youll have to do is chop the connector off of your current O2 sensor and fit it to the sensor. on the EK9s its a 4wire O2 sensor, (heater, heater-ground, O2 narrowband 0-1v signal, and signal ground)
All youd do is strip the wires back on each, twist them tightly together and braze them with solder. i.e. dont solder them together as it affects the Impedence across the circuit. Then with heatshrink ready to slide over the joint its watertight/weather proof. :secret:

..but of course before we all start guessing whats wrong, pull the code! See what the computer says is wrong.

Logical questions you should ask yourself:
*Is the harness stock
*if not, whats changed on the harness?
*is your map & tps wiring in fine condition?

And JB, get yourself in the passenger seat with a short piece of wire and pull that code it takes all of 2minutes dude! What are you waiting for!?

Im rite in saying it the engine check light this is supose to be flashing with the error code's????

I ask this because the engine check light is showing 3 short flashes - Map sensor

But also my ABS light is flashing with code's too?????

On the ABS light im getting 16 - fuel injector system defective
61 - Oxygen sensor, heated - sensor 1 (primary)

Which one should i be looking for???????????????????
I am just resetting my ecu at the mo and going to check it agen in a min!!!!

As said, dont worry about the engine codes against the ABS numbers counted.
On the ABS system, code 16 is rear offside speed-sensor fault (which can be caused by a short in the connection), faulty installation (i.e. bolt missing or loose etc), chipped ring (as in the gear ring it uses to read the pulses from, dirt CAN affect it somtimes but very rare), or fault control unit.
code 61 is relative to high or low battery voltage, like if you battery is waay too low for the ABS system to operate properly or waay too high, like if somone installed a 24v battery by mistake (which we know you havnt!), it is also potentially caused by a break/open in the IG2 relay'd switched-ignition circuit. Which again would be highly unlikely unless its been changed/rewired etc. and the final possible cause for this code is (as with ANY code) a faulty control unit.

You have definiteley got problems with the ABS system too.

Reset proceedure for the ABS system is...
*with SCs connector jumped
*depress brake pedal
*turn IGN on.while holding it down but dont start the engine the light will go off after about 2secs
*after its off release the pedal, the light will come back on after about 4-5seconds
*after its back-LIT again, again depress the brake pedal, the light will go back out after 4-5secs while youre still holding the pedal down
*after it goes off AGAIN release the pedal
*after 5seconds or so the light will flash twice for a quarter of a second gap and the ABS error codes have been cleared!

Im going to call you in a min dude. I need you to check a couple of other specific things :nice:
