Help, car not starting!

Well it was draining the battery the first lot of times trying to turn it over but charged it over night so its ok now. But still doesnt start. I will try disconnecting alternator tomorrow and try starting. What exactly would this prove? Are you suggesting it could be the alternator that is draining the battery stopping it from starting? If so would it still not start if it was being jumped?

I'm just wondering did you happen to spill ps fluid down on top of alternator? There is a green plug on top try removing that. I worked on a car before where alternator was faulty causing excessive current draining which while cranking was causing the injectors not to pulse like normal, it would sound like it wanted to start but just never did.

The lads are right though, if it's badly flooded and fouled the plugs it will be very hard to start. If you have another set of spark plugs fit them in and see does it start. I remember been at a dealers once going to test drive a EK9 and the engine was flooded, no way would it start till he pulled the plugs out of another ek9 and fitted them, fired right up then.

Try push starting it.
If it does start from pushing then it is the starter that's at fault.

well well well...... You wouldnt have guessed it!! It was flooded!!

I took plugs out, sanded them down a bit to clear crap, burnt them round with a lighter till the petrol was gone. Took injectors out, turned car over a few times to clear any fuel, whack everything back on and presto, the car ckokes a bit then bang, she starts :win:

Johnny G hit the nail on the head.

Thanks to all with all your helpful input! Rep to all for trying to help.

Glad to hear that you got it sorted! At least you know what to do now if it happens again.

Good to hear! I will remember this thread for sure!
:nice:
