Hi guys, Ive read a few things on here about doing headlights to create ek9 ones. I have seen the video that Michael Flare put up too. I need some more information for doing mine.

When my Jordan was vandalised one of the ek9 headlights was slightly damaged with paint stripper and melted slightly, I have sanded a lot of the damage off and polished it off too, but its still there slightly.

Anyway, Ive had the idea of taking the damaged light apart and using the lens off my standard vti headlight and placing it on the ek9 headlight shell. That way I will have a set of ek9 headlights again.

I just need more info for putting the light in the oven etc, temps, time and what ever else I need to do. Ive had a search but cant find the info I need.

Anyone got the info I need before I risk buggering up a decent set of headlights.

Ben

Thanks, anyone else be a bit more specific with temps/time? Just read a lot of posts where people have melted headlights etc, and dont want to go down that route.

Just found on a Lexus forum that it says 300 degrees for 3 minutes but I think it would be best to prob do 180 and just keep checking every minute until its warm. As long as your careful you shouldn't melt it.

or you could always just nuke it with a hair dryer but it will take ages and there is still a risk of melting.

Good luck! :nice:

Done plenty of sets for people and i used a heat gun and never had any problems.

Just heat the join until the glue goes tacky and prise apart with a plastic scraper or likes.

Make sure the headlights are made by the same people ie valeo, Stanley etc as the lenses mount to the headlight unit slightly differently between models.

Nice top tip there saundz, not checked that, they are genuine ek9 lights and standard honda oem lights though.

I've found out in the past about the differences.
They are both genuine honda lights made by two different companies.
I am doing the exact same as you as I've got genuine ek9 lights but the lenses are past it to say the least. It's taken me a while to get the correct lights to do the swap.

Thanks again, Im going to have to check this first before anything goes near any oven.
