I've currently got some aftermarket Sonar (Halo type) headlights fitted to my EK9, never liked them! So I finally got around to getting a set of Facelift Headlights (Thanks to Luke!) But I'm having a bit of trouble because of the Sonar headlights I have fitted currently.

Basically the Sonar headlights have been spliced into the wiring loom to make the Halo parts work. Both the main beam and High beam lights are sealed units that cannot be removed.

as shown here

The only plugs I have from the Loom to the headlights are the following:

This one for the indicator lights

and this one for the main lights I'm guessing? :S

My question is...

I don't have the bulb carriers for the standard EK9 headlights apart from the inidicator one

Is it just a case of me getting hold of the two bulb carriers I don't have and then chopping out the old headlight wiring thats been spliced in (the black and red wire right at the bottom in the top pic) then plugging and playing with bulbs etc.

Or have the plugs been changed/wrong so it's more of a wiring job? :S

It would be helpful if someone could post a pic of the standard headlight connections also, so I can see whats what.

Also if anyone knows were I can get some bulb carriers that would be very helpful! Bit upset cos I really wanted to just swap these over today and it all be sorted :win:

if you ha the main block connector intact for the main bulbs and the indicator connector then thats all you need im sure!
is the sidelight holder there also?
is it the steel wire fixing main bulb holder you are missing?
you could rob one off another damaged headlight or the likes and replace it.

the main bulb goes straight onto that block connector you put pic of up.

or put a small amount of silicone on each "foot"(3 of them) of the main bulb and put it in place to harden as temp fix :secret:

I have the other plug for the indicator light yes. I basically only have the large plug in the pic and the indicator plug (2 in total)

I only have the carrier for the indicator bulb. So do I just need to get carriers for the other two holes shown in the last pic (main bulb and small side bulb) and then connect the plugs up and jsut chop out the old wires that have been spliced into the loom to make the Halo crap work on my old headlights?

If thats all then I just need to do the following:

1) Get two carriers for Main bulb and sidelight bulb
2) chop out wires spliced into loom from old lights and 'make good'
3) plug it all together and try em out :win:

Everyone agree with that? :p

Dang, I hate it when a small job turns into a big one :angry2:

Try PM'ing JamesSSB he's breaking a civic in the For Sale section, I got my new lights from him and they came without bulb holders so maybe he still has them, or maybe Livvy has some for sale.

Hope you manage to figure it out!

Yeh annoying to say the least! I have Pm'd Livvy and James, hopefully I'll get some good news! :D

I'm pretty sure the above procedure is what I need to do, but if someone with a bit more knowledge could confirm that would be great

Oh! your an absolute legend mate! :win:

Thanks ever so much, thats saved me alot of hassle! Champion! :D

No problem :) Lings are usually pretty quick even though they're a bit expensive, I'm waiting for a tiny clip I lost so that I can put my rear air-vent back on, so I feel your pain!
