I had my Facelift EK9 on a brand new corner weight set-up at a local shop

My car the way it sits today weighed 1021kg :) I'm very happy about this as the car is specified to be 1090kg standard so thats 70kg weight saving!

On the corner weights the guys were very impressed with the balance of the car as it was reading 49.8% and 50.2% diagonally which is pretty close to perfect. The weight distribution from front to rear was roughly 65% F and 35% R as the front is always going to be heavier due to the engine.

Next on my list are a set of lightweight recaro fixed seats which will bring my total weight down to about 990kg and 100kg lighter than standard will make a big difference to performance

wuft thats light.

love to know what mine weighs :nerve:

I know mate I was impressed myself!

I was trying to explain before how my ek9 is now slightly quicker than my old 205hp DC2 and some people did not agree saying that the dc2 is basically the same weight as the Ek9 and that the b18c dc2 would always win. My mate was also there today in his UK dc2 and it weighed 1118kg with full interior and sum crap in the boot so 100kg difference and the dc2 even has the aircon removed

Stripping weight without going overboard and making a car unpractical really helps:)

Sounds good buddy, what have you done to it so far then?

Yea me too. I would love to get mine weighed accuratly.

I have been down to the ferry docks and asked them but i think there equipment jus weighs to the nearest 100kg. With me in he said it was 1100kg.

My mates pug 106 Rallye , ITB 1.6 16v was 900kg!!! with him in it!!!

I'd also like to know what was removed and what's stayed to get that weight. Good distribution of weight though, bet you're chuffed :nice:

As far as suspension I have put Bilstein shocks and Neuspeed Race springs which are one of the few ek civic spring kits that have stiffer spring rates than OEM Type-R.

Weight saving:

-Spoon n1 axle back 3.5kg (fair bit lighter than oem)
-Spoon 4-2 & 2-1 manifold (again lighter than oem)
-15" Lightweight wheels
-Real Carbon fiber mirrors
-Air-con removed
-carbon fiber airbox
-passenger airbag replaced with carbon tray
-OEM momo airbag steering wheel replaced with OMP deepdish
-Rear seats, spare wheel, jack etc removed
-Rear seatbelts removed

might be more but thats all i can think of now weight wise

Yea bud I think eg's standard are a fair bit lighter than eks so yours should be under 1000k without you in it anyway:nice: 106's are very light thats why the go so well for what they are!

Cheers I'm well chuffed as I was expecting maybe 1040kg as I never weighed anything when I removed it to get a good idea of how much I was loosing but now a have a good figure to work from

Not majorly the Std EK9 is 1070kg and the std EG6 is 1040kg. An mine is Import wid full interior, elecy pack and Extra Gathers audio :angry2:, but hey least i know theres plenty of weight there for me to loose if i need to :nice:.

ps i only weigh 65kg so seems to add up.

Hey mate. As above, please could you tell us how much it cost to have this done?. Also how does the car feel now in comparison to before?

Thanks

I didnt make any adjustments on the corner weighting scales, this is just the results from the way I have the car atm.

All in to get the car on the scales and a slip with my total weight and then each corner weight was only £5!
The place was having a dent-out day to get some publicity for a newly opened garage and they were doing the corner weighing at a discounted price for the day.

I think they normally only charge £10 maybe at the most for a reading. They said that you can make adjustments with coilovers to shift weight or just physically move weight from one part of the car to another etc

Nice one :)

I had mine on a set of corner weight scales ages ago, weighed in at 996kg with about 1/3 tank of fuel in the car

since then......

-carbon bonnet, -10kg
-carbon wing mirrors, -2kg
-regas (was on standard wheels before), -10kg
-ABS removed, -5kg
-PS removed, -8kg
-stereo and all speakers removed, -2kg
-passenger airbag removed, -2kg
-non AC box fitted behind glovebox, -3kg
-more interior bits removed, -6kg
-passenger seat swapped out for fixed seat, -8kg
-passenger belt swapped out for harness, -1kg
-cage/inner wing braces/rear lower tie bar added, +35kg
-bigger radiator added, +4kg

Be interested to see what it is now, hopefully get it on my mates scales soon

Thats very light! What was removed before you did all of the above to get the car from 1070kg down to 996kg? I would say that you will be easily below 950 now with what you have done:nerv:

Im aiming for around 950kg and I think that with the 2 fixed recaros and a lightweight drycell battery I will be nearly there. I have also considered a carbon bonnet but I sometimes think that they don't suit a cw facelift ek9 as well as a pre-face for some reason. Have you any idea how much lighter the carbon bonnet is?

I'd love to know what mine weighs too!

nice figure steven, would be nice to know what it is now with bits added/ taken away

with the addition of the cage/bracing and radiator (4L extra water = 4kg more), edited the post above, only probably shed 18kg

haha, extra weight of cage + bracing is very worth it, guess shall see :nerv:

Yea I know what you mean but the cage is alot more benifitial when it comes to safety and body stiffness than stripping weight and the radiator is worth the extra weight for the added cooling :))

I thought the fixed seats would lose closer to 15kg per side and I think when I weighed the pass airbag it was 3kg but sure whats a 1kg
