hi everyone,

i am about to get a new set of coilovers and i am torn between h&r sports and tein basics. i prefer comfortable ride but still a bit responsive and and less body roll.

any comment would be greatly appreciated.

thanks so much

I wouldn't recommend TEIN basic for 2 reasons. Their spring rates and their lack of tunability. Moreover they are very expensive to service them and you mess with the spring preload for reducing the height. There are numerous other quality and budget options.

thanks so much! so would you say that H&R would be the best overall performer for a lowered setup? having comfort and responsiveness and of course height is concern, reliability etc?

i only commented on the teins. I don't have any experience with the HnR coilovers, apart from HnR progressive springs which i had along with bilsteins sprints on my civic. Overall solution but there is no comparison with my current Buddy Club coilovers.
I would recommend you search this forum, there are plenty of reviews for coilovers.

Both are not damping adjustable, perhaps take a look at the Buddyclub N+, its in the same price range but has damping adjustability.

if you are paying out that kinda money you will defo get a set with damper adjustment from another brand, i would suggest check out whats available for that money with height & damper adjustment then do a little research on the brands you find and if not sure like you just have stick a thread and ask us about them, but don't get just height adjustment, you could get springs and uprated shocks i am sure that would be a cheaper option too

thanks for the input.i checked out the buddyclub, but i am a bit worried about some clunking noise that it may producel. will it give me any kind of noise? i like the danmpening and height adjustability. how is it different from tein ss?except for the price?

Have you considered D2 coilovers ??

I've no idea how adding coilovers would give you a clunking noise, Buddyclub N+ also has damping, independant height and preload adjustment while ten SS only has height and damping adjustment.

hopefully $1500canadian and below.

im just a bit worried about the disclaimer.

[ 1. Ride-Height Adjustable ]
Vehicle ride height is adjusted independently of spring pre-load. With other alternatives available on the market today, vehicle ride height is adjusted by reducing or increasing the preload on the coil spring. This primitive methold leads to inconsistent spring rates that are dependent upon the vehicle ride height. With any of the Buddy Club suspension components, including the N+ SPEC, vehicle ride height is independent of spring pre-load. This method ensures that the spring rate is always consistent, no matter how high or low your car is. In addition, it ensures that the spring is always properly positioned onto the strut and effectively reduces miscellaneous and unnessary noise.

[ 2. 15 Level Adjustment ]
Suspension adjustability is a key element when selecting a top quality coil-over system. The N+ SPEC DAMPERS are designed to accommodate a wide range of driving conditions from regular roads to prepared racing surfaces. Dampening settings ranges from hard (+4kg/mm) to soft (-4kg/mm).

Also avaialble is the optional urethane isolated upper pillow-ball mount. The urethane isolating ring keeps suspension noise to a minimal while maintaining the precision feel of a solid mounted strut.

[ 7. Floating racing spring bearing seat ]
This bearing seat is developed based on data acquired from various competitions and racing experience. It is a brand new design in order to prevent the vibration noise of the spring on the Macpherson systems.
It will increase the overall performance of the suspension by decreasing the twisting tension between the spring and the damper.

... i am a bit inclined in getting this set. but the only thing is, how come they have so much disclaimer about the "noise" of a coilover setup can do. to be really brutally honest, i am a bit paranoid right now.this is because i tried out an adjustable sleeve on my oem struts, and all i can hear is clunking sounds on my rears more than my stereo and damn its super stiff and i have been bouncing around like a ball on the road.now, you guys know where i got my hesitance in trying out different brands. yes, i know it was so stupid of me and foolish, but then again, i just want to get this over and done with.hehe.

now, i am torn between buddyclub N+ and H&R sports. i have heard so much about H&R sports giving comfort, i am not yet sure about buddyclub.

also, what do we mean by preload adjustment?
what's the difference of linear and progressive springs?in terms of performance (responsiveness) and comfort?

like i said before, i do want a comfortable daily driven ride but i wouldn't mind a responsive set of coilovers.

thanks again! cheers!

Your coilover sleeves probably don't have the thick rubber O ring that holds the top part in place...

if you want to be super comfort the the spring rates of TEIIN Superstreet will suit you.
If you don't already have an ek9, a stock ek9 suspension would also be a good idea

i did out 3 thick o-rings for each sleeve.

is the tein ss really far better than the buddyclub n+? because since blinx has mentioned, it has been one of my options.

cheers!

if you are seeking for ride quality near stock, then buddy club won't get you there. I would say that it is sportier than superstreet though.
Still with these amount of money i think you could have tein flex or monotube which is better i suppose.

i think, with all the deliberations and thoughts among my peers, i have decided to go with tein ss. i guess just for overall performance and adjustability. sporty yet a bit comfy. i believe they can perform well both daily and a bit of track.

cheers!

also, can i still get those ek9.org decals even though i only have and ej6?how?i am here in vancouver canada.how much as well?

thanks and long live the eKing!

Agreed, both are great but the Tein SS is more suited for comfort and street use while the buddyclub N+ is stiffer.

yup! since i will be using the car for daily driving like, 80-90% of the time so i thought might as well go for the teins! what would be a nice setting for me on my teins? dampers and height? comfort yet responsive.

:nice:

Your gonna have to play with the settings and find what you like, everybody has there own opinion on comfort :nice:
