Gym/Fitness thread

If u want to burn fat Ull need to train like a mofo! Clean diet, high in protein low in carbs. Eat carbs early in the day. I use phd diet whey. Has everything in it to aid in fat loss also plenty of protein to pump the guns. I used t3s for cutting up in summer. Good stuff but expensive. Plus it won't happen over night. Easy to drop weight but fat is stubborn and hard to shift. Clean eating and plenty of trainning and supplements Ull be grand. I've a good diet plan a friend of mine give me years ago easy to follow if u fancy it pm me

the phd is gd but for cutting id advise reflex isolate whey its a leaner protein,as u said its hard work, the main thing is diet doesnt matter how hard u train a bad diet will always out do it

Down to 15 and a half stone. Might sound like alot but its the lightest i've been in 10 YEARS!

Congrats mate. If anyone is looking for some info on training hard and eating like a mofo and still lose weight. Have a look at the Michael phelps diet, it's f#cking rediculous what he gets through in a day.

Finally managed a 200% BW deadlift last night, not the heaviest but pretty chuffed with it none the less :D

I wouldn't bother with deadlifting that sort of weight, the amount of strain will snap some sh*t up!!

I damaged my lower back deadlifting and will never do it again after the physio advised that its very dangerous for the back and not needed to build overall muscle mass

It wasn't that heavy by most standards I've seen people my weight lifting 250%+ for 15 reps! It's an awesome exercise, good way to strengthen legs, back, traps etc.

I do agree that its great for building size and strength where you mentioned but if you damage your lower back deadlifting, which is very easily done it will never be right again

I concentrate more on squating

I put injuries in deadlifts/squats down more to poor form and not warming up than anything else.
I think deadlifts are great exercises just like squats for building size and strength.

True, my form was always quite bad when deadlifting which contributed to me injuring my back.

After going to physio, she told me that even with perfect form when lifting heavy on the deadlift you are putting so much strain on the lower back that injuries are very common. She told me about a girl who bent over to pick up her child and couldn't walk for months and is still having problems just to explain how easily the back can be damaged

She said to keep weightlifting but avoid anything where you lift by bending the back, so basically always bend and lift with the knees.

Tbf my form is very good, back is always dead straight and I lift from the legs, last week I had to inform a guy he was lifting incorrectly otherwise he would be in hospital soon, back was arched like a rainbow lol! He tried it my way and could barely lift the bar, form>weight ; )

That's a good point t3gav, usually find that I can lift a lot more if I don't use proper form so it's a good way to see if I'm trying to cheat with weights.

Either pulled a muscle in my back or have a trapped nerve, just happened after I moved up a weight benching.. well annoying, frozen pea's oot ! :(

In case some of you aren't aware the government has decided all supplements are going to be subjected to vat from the 1st of October so just thought I'd give you lot a heads up :)

Just a quick Q, In the gyms that you all go to do any of the people in them work their legs? The gym that i go to is full of young lads that just stand around posing and working out their arms and shoulders! They've all got wee chicken legs and broad shoulders, i dont get it at all! :nono:

I used to be like this till I noticed that not only did I look ridiculous with silly little chicken legs but I had no balance or core strength. Glad I started training my legs as I feel much better for doing it.
