looked at that ek9 and it looks clean and tidy, but im also looking for papers about the import and its service history etc etc, but this car doesnt have any papers, so im not so sure about buying it!

Can someone give me advice on a car that doesnt have the papers?

He says he has tried the company he bought it from but they are closed for two weeks.

Are the papers important to you, because they are too me.

Happy Holidays All!

if i was u id wait till the company he got it from opens so he can confirm he can get them and prove that hes not bluffing

cool thats great mate, i dont want to take it without all papers.

Just to confirm, what papers should i seek when buying an ek9?

seems to have usual performance mods so worth checking for signs of abuse id say. give the shocks and bushes a check. check the oil and other fluid levels etc.

as for documents - as the cars registered you dont need to worry about anything like the DeReg stuff etc etc. so just check the V5 and confirm the chasis number. BUT - id really really really advise you to get hold of the auction sheet. without that you wont know the grade of the car, for all you know it may be a R (repair) grade. which isnt always a bad thing but obviously that depends on how good and extensive the repairs have been.

any genuinely good company or owner who isnt trying to hide things will have a print out of the auction sheet.

check the wheels, if they say RAVS and not RAYS they're worth the same as any old alloy wheels, but RAYS are worth alot more!

Looks nice, is it an Rx? Price seems a little on the low side, and he's open to offers :/

Looks like he's sprayed the fog surronds for some reason too.

RAVS.........things like that make me wanna throw up!!
Better say "NOT RAYS" instead

i may be being very sceptical and picky here but i would be very wary of someone who advertises a car as "Totally Standard" and then goes on to say oh but it has "wheels , coilovers and chrome ( ooh er ) induction pipe"

I rang up about this car today and im going to look at it tomorrow.

Im also a little worried about the fact there is no history of import etc., he said the people who imported it still have the paperwork and they are tegiwa imports, so he may be trying to hide something...as im sure johnny or luke could sort him out with the stuff over the phone...and why would they keep the paperwork.?

does sound a little suspicious. anyway i'll let everyone know what its like tomorrow after i've had a look at it.

Dave

just push for a copy of the auction sheet. a print out is easy.or even if you contact tegiwa yourself with the chasis number and ask them about it.

good luck

what happens if the car hasn't come from an auction?
are there any other systems like the auction grading system?

None, even auction grades are not tat good, I've seen grade 1 cars that are in pretty good shape :nerv:

Grade 1 doesnt mean its in bad shape at all, it means it has had some aftermarket bits put on such as a new turbo/engine/transmission/roll cage/fenders etc.

grade 1 means heavily modified and no accident history mate,R1 means heavy modified and previously accident damaged repaired.

Dave this was my friends old ek9 Rx and he bought it off jonny and luke and sold it to a kid from scotland and when my friend had it all it had fitted were cusco coilovers and white volk te 37's i can vouch for it as when he had it ,it was in very good condition inside and out and drove mint :nice:

Grade R1 means accident repaired but very small repair. eg just a wing, bumper repaired or replaced. Grade 1 can indeed be for heavily modded or they also use grade 0 or KAY for modded.:blinx:

isnt it often R for repair then a number after it to indicate the quality of the repair??
