Gearbox oil change


why landrover mtf? pennzoil synchromesh is the best ive used so far...
 
I use 75w 90 motul! :nerv:
 
Because Landrover MTF is rebottled Honda MTF, which is the gearbox oil Honda recommend ;)

yeah you can do it that way, but that seems too complicated, i usually just jack the car up and do it from the front and leave the wheels on, but i need someone to pour the fluid while i hold the tube in the filler hole.

i do it exactly the same way...its the fastest way:nice:
 
Ok thanks, do I need to replace the nut? Is it definitely 1.5ltrs?
 
So is 2 ltrs enough? Obviously I don't want to drain the box and then not have enough oil, making the car undriveable.

Is it advised to replace the nut or can you re-use it?
 
2 should be enough, i always by 3 just incase... yes you reuse the nut.

Sorry read the question the wrong way.. I used just under 2 litres the last time, so your right 2 litres should be enough but 1.5 is too little! No need to replace the nut unless you damage it :p if the washer is warped in anyway change that but it shouldn't need replacing.. Good luck!
 
mine was recently replaced using a BIG syringe... think that was just above 1.5 ltrs of MTFII... sadly could not get hold of pennzoil synchromesh! :(

u can upgrade ur current drain bolts for some spoon magnetic ones, improving ur nxt tranny oil change :naughty: it also brings some spare washers!

i got them tranny/engine ones frm ebay for good price...
