Hello all have a few days off work until I start my new job, so I thought I might swell spend the day cleaning my 9. I must say it looks brand new literally lol. I did my cleaning in 5 stages, concentrating on one panel at a time. I repeated the 4 stage cycle on all panels to gain the best results.
Here is the stuff I used to detail.

I used Maguire’s polishes as in my eyes I have found them to be the best products on the current market. I thought I would try MERS polish to see what it was like; I must say it is superb, highly recommended.

Products used
• Smooth Surface clay Kit
• Ultimate Compound
• Gold class carnauba plus premium liquid wax
• MERS Ultimate polish.(blue bottle)
• Demon Shine quick detailer

First stage - was to lube the panel in order for the clay bar to work. I used demon shine as it is only just basically to be able slide the clay bar a cross the panels, so no need for expensive materials for this part.

Second Stage -Then I Worked the clay bar into the paint work until I could feel it go completely smooth. Once I clay bared the whole panel. I then wiped the panel down using a clean microfiber cloth. Once I wiped down the panel I immediately noticed a huge difference and I still was no were near finished.

Third stage – I then used the ultimate Compound (a better version of t-cut) and applied using a damp polishing cloth. The reason I used a damp cloth was because 23 degrees outside was far too hot to apply dry polishing and I could have caused swirl marks/light scratching on my body work. It also makes polishing less effort which leaves more energy to proper buff the panel. Remove using a clean microfiber cloth.

Fourth stage – I applied Mers polish, this is what is used on boats. I have heard a lot about MERS, so I thought I would try it out. I must say it’s defiantly worth the £16.99 a bottle. Easily the best base polish I have used. I used a damp cloth again and slowly polishing in circle motions, Remove using a clean microfiber cloth.

Fifth stage – Apply liquid wax using a damp cloth then lightly buff of using a clean microfiber cloth.

Now repeat the process again to gain the best results.
If any requires this done let me know, i can offer a very good price to forum members. The whole process took me 6 hours to do. I only use top products and the results are like day and night.

Thanks for reading, i hope this helps you out.

That was caused when I put the oem wheels back on getting on to my drive way lol. I will sort it out once I have got the front bumper freshened up.

Looks Great dude, saw the photos on Facebook on my phone :D

I've been practising using a machine polisher on my old escort, i swear by hand gets better results, It just takes time and effort. I also use meguiars :D smeels good too

thanks mate, not really keen on machine polishing tbh, had a 1.0 saxo back in 2006 and i ended up taking the paint off, so haven't used one since lol. i feel you can achive best result by elbow grease. that way there is no risk of paint damage ect.

Machine polishing will give better results but it's a case of practice/ good products and a good quality smooth running machine

I have been doing it for about 12 years now, so pretty well practiced on it.

da polisher, slow speed to apply the polish and then bring the speed up to a good level. the key is to let the machine do the work. :nice:

I use a da on my car, much better results than by hand
Looks well:nice:

Might sound like a stupid question, i'm not good with all the detailing stuff, but after a little bit of browsing around a while back, I read that some people suggested the Ultimate Compound may be cutting a bit too deep for Honda paint as Honda paint isn't that "strong" or "thick" compared the some other cars.. did you use the Ultimate Compound all around, then the ultimate polish?

But yeah, my actual question is, are you supposed to use the Ultimate Compound all around then top it off with something slightly less abrasive? or only on scratches etc?

Oh and btw the difference is amazing, your car looks immaculate now!

I found the paint on my ek9 soft when using the machine polisher with the ultimate compound.
I basically set out to remove swirl marks which were very obvious in the sun. My first run removed the majority of them so I was surprised.

I know by hand will take alot more time and effort so your safe enough.
