the situation is the other my car got stuck in the snow, and only one wheels was slipping and spinning the other one didnt move, i though a normal fwd car thats doesnt have an lsd both wheels will spin no matter what? or am i wrong
thanks

clearly not! or you wouldnt be asking such a dumb question!

LSD
Limited Slip Differential.

Normal diff
Sun and planet gears.
Nothing limiting the slip of the torque distridution to either wheel.

ok then if i didnt have a lsd on my car would both wheels spin the same no matter what?

Oh my god where are these mutants coming from. Do you even drive a civic?

:angry2:

Was my last post in chinees???

sorry

No! of course they wont if you dont have an lsd the the torque (turning force) will just transfer through the easiest path that is what a differential on cars are for. Every car has one. Jeez google could have explained that, its basic car fundimendals

(sorry bad day with lost of dumb questions)

Chill mate!

Reminds me of Cliosport.

Yea, one wheel is spinning due to your distributor being mis-alligned with the
crank housing.

ok thanks for clearing that up. i knew that an lsd transferred the torque to the wheel with most grip, but didnt know that the normal diffs put the torque to the easiest path
i thought forums like these is where people shared there knowledge.

if you was to hold the other side on the standard diff you could still spin the other side and the side your holding will just stay still
i odnt have a lsd on my car its just a normal diff
im guessing both lsd and std will allow your wheels to spin at different speeds but they transffer the power differently. ie lsd it transfers to the wheel with most grip and the normal diff just trnasfers the power the one with less traction.

when you say that the lsd will make your wheels spin the same your saying that when your turning the innner wheel will turn the same speed as your outter wheel, when the outer wheel needs to be travailing quicker than the inner wheel
Wrong !

LSD ( in your situation) makes both wheels spin at the same time , non lsd make 1 wheel spin more

correct me if im wrong !

<YouTube - E30 LSD LIMITED SLIP DIFFERENTIAL LESSON.

by saying at the same time i didin't mean the same speed ;) but yeah as said above !

no, its prob the distributor connector on the crimnit sensor

thanks for vid mate i understand more now
thanks for your help

No need to be so hard on the OP, the majority of people do not grasp how differentials work.

OEM LSDs do not make your wheels spin at the same rate. The standard EK9 diffs are helical 'torque biasing' diffs, they can transfer a set ratio of torque from one wheel to the other say 5:1, so the wheel with grip gets 5x the torque of the one with less grip. This only works if both wheels have grip though, with zero traction on one wheel the diff goes open as 5x0 = 0 and all the torque goes to the tractionless wheel. These diffs never lock.

The locking diffs ('proper' LSDs) are clutch pack and do actually lock the two wheels together at a preset amount of slip.

What effect does the flux capacitor have on the clutch pack LSD?

Turns it into 5 wheel hyper drive.

Obviously.

lol, just to add to some of the useless posts here:

MATT DAMON!
