Hi, I was sure that this subject would have been covered before but the search bar isn't pulling through for me!
I have a facelift r-x and my passenger wing mirror doesn't fold in. The drivers side works fine and I can adjust the angle of the mirror on both sides. Has anyone had this problem before? Sometimes it will click like it's trying to fold in but most of the time its just dead:(

Its out of sync. you need to push your passangers side mirror in full and the push the button to retract the drivers side one in. once they are both it they should be back in sync and just hit the button again and hopefully they will both go back out. :nice:

from the vid it looks like its just real stiff maybe some silicone spray make help to lubricate it and rotate easier???

Mine did this. All I did was spray DW40 in the hole where the hinges are when the mirrors were folded in which sorted it out.

mine does this too, wd40 is only a quick fix - give it a few months and it will be back. think the splines have gone.

I was going to take mine apart to see what was goin on but didn't get round to it.

It's starting working again for me now so I'll just wait till it goes tits up again!

Ive fixed mine and a few others , theirs little copper leg contacts (they control the on-off current when the mirror is in/out) that sit on a tilted copper base .

The one that provides contact on closing might be slightly askew and not touching the base at the start , so no movement until you actually push it or else it doesn't move at all ,you have to remove the mirror , cut the 4 mirror motor wires and disassemble the casing

Thanks for your help, I'll take it off tomorrow and find the

No need to take it off. It works. Just spray wd 40 into the little crack where you can see the mechanism. So push in the mirror and spray it in and then push the button to go back out.. Repeat this 5 or 6 times and after that it will work on its own

+1

Mine was exactly the same. Worked in the DW40 and I've not had a problem with it since. I guess they don't get used that much in some cars and overtime just get dry and full of crap.

scrap only thing to do is spoon mirrors haha oj i dont have folding mirror luxuries lol

thought this might solve my problem aswell but mine one dont budge at all ! onyl 1 works .... do i have to buy a new one ?

If there is no clicking and when you push it the motor doesn't grab then it has probably burnt out, so new mirror basically, which isn't great but i'm sure you'll find something seconds hand. swap out the innards and no worries about paint matching

Thanks for all your help guys, wd40 did the trick for me!
I love quick fixes :nice:
