I'm thinking of getting a fixed bucket seat. The car only really get used on the track. My drivers seat needs a bolster replacing as it's completely knackered and the bar just sticks into my leg.

Are fixed bucket seats a lot better for keeping you held in when on the track, or is it not a huge difference over a recliner bucket? Would you say it's a worthwhile upgrade or should I just get the bolster repaired?

If anyone has one what did they go for?

Cheers

I would say it's a big difference. If you can it's good to go to a place where you can have a sit in a few to see what suits you best. The snugger the fit the less you move and the more feel you get for what the car (esp the rear) is doing.

From a previous Bride/Buddyclub/Recaro owner.

You will wonder why you never had a fixed bucket in your car, transforms how it feels.

I would look at Recaro SPG's, pole positions or the furious if I were you.

I also think they make a really good difference, driving position is better and keep you held in much better than standard seats

I'd say get Recaro SPGs. They are a really nice and tight. I have Pole Positions and they are probably better for daily and they hold you better than the OEM Recaros. My mate complains how tight my PPs are, but he's a wee prick.

Compared to a standard seat they will make a massive difference when on track

I'll have two mint condition sparco corsa seats for sale in September from my rally car, as they run out of date in December , only done 12 events over the last 4 years

Cheers. I'll go demon tweeks and test some out. I like the look of the spgs.

If you are buying a seat just for the odd trackday, i wouldnt be looking at the SPG.
The likes of Cobra, corbeau, sparco etc do really nice bucket seats that are not overly priced.

I've got a pair of Corbeau Pro series seats. Half the price of the Recaros, still very light, well built and hold you tight! Love them!

agreed here. i have an omp rs which is more than up to the job. i don't doubt the recaro is a better seat, but u doubt it's enough to warrant to paying 2-2.5 times the price.

This!

Makes such a difference driving in a fixed bucket.

I have 2 Corbeua pro series seats in mine and they are perfect! Cheaper than the JDM fan boi Brides and Buddyclub seats.

On Ebay you can normally find some bargains when it comes to seats. I remmeber getting some Sparcos that had passed the FIA date. quick wash of the covers they came up brand new!
