Went out for a test in a standard black ek9 today :D
All I could say was WOW!

Had to drive 120 mile round trip to see it, and blag a test drive, but boy was it worth it.

I'd didn't buy it, as it was too expensive & looked like it had a smash at some point in its life, also debadged and no stickers!

Just a word of warning if anyone is planning on seeing it (WRC Sales in Bradford)

anyway its got my a*** in gear as I defo want one now!

Anyones fancy a p/x? lol

Did you like the handling? Can you compare it to any of your previous drives? heheheheeh

This is why im worried im gonna have to drive to Swansea from Glasgow to test drive one im looking at lol So i hope everything goes well.......

90ish mph going round a fast bend :nerv: but the handling felt very planted, (the place was on a ind. estate so roads were very empty for a sunday afternoon!)

Compared to my current car, it felt slow at first until vtec that is :D but thats why i drove down there at a slow pace (trying not boost)

Not to sure in the handling dept as i've never dared explore the limits of my 200sx, for fear of the nearest lamp post, hedge ect.

Also 245/17/45 tyres dont come cheap. lol

That's gonna be some mileage, hope get better mpg than I do in my 200!

Good luck mate!

*firstly i signed up awhile ago...but this forum got reseted and i lost my..account but i still keep reading*

anyway I am really hung up on if EK9 is worth getting over a DC2, the points that are cons on the EK9s are:

-Looks like ordinary civic, but in the eyes of the wisdoms would know what it is. but normal people will just think "chaved up mobil"

-slower than a DC2, power/performance

- more expensive to get!!!

the thing that are making me want an EK9 is, it is a special car, and i heard handling is better than DC2.

SO how does the EK9 perform?!?!? what did you get from your test drive?

I had a PM from a member asking more or less the same, should of put this at the start of the thread :)

I tried flooring the ek9 from 3rd gear at about 40mph and it took fcuking ages before anything happened! (turbo mentality as 3rd in mine = bye bye ) but when it did, there was bend approaching very fast, (90+) and it was on rails, just went round, glued comes to mind. leads me to think on more traffic light grand prix!

BUT
the next time from standstill floored it in 1st to red line same again in 2nd, then mis shifted into 3rd. doh!
OMG guttless my arse, it fcuking shifted, you might not be going that fast but it defo feels like you are (hope that make sense lol)

You really have to rag the **** out of it, its a completely differant animal in vtec, the noise, the feeling, I think its the whole package & them recarco's

What got out of the test drive is that i want one asap!! (heart talking)

but my brain says to test drive a jdm dc2 also for the same reasons as yours.

With the dc2 type r you will feel a big power difference and more torque, but the handling I'm pretty sure the EK9 wins hehe

DC2 now looking a bit dated inside IMO. Still a great car but feels a bit claustrophobic (good old spell checker)inside. The EK is just so much easier to live with every day. Finally the good ones are holding there £ really well.

i have a DC2 UKDM had to have it as the insurance was a bit to high on the JDM EK9 so getting my 9 in a year or so, you will not be disappointed with the DC2 the power is amazing and the handling is point and go, i have out handled scoobies etc in a straight line it is hard but round country lanes it comes in to its own,

my heart will always be with the EK9 as only people who know cars know what they can do. as for a gap filler the DC2 is spot on,

mine is perfect no rust, paint and interior spotless. AEM intake and an mongoose exhaust, im laughing,

the EK9 is a bit special, i've been waiting for months for mine to be imported over etc and i finally went down on Sunday and had a proper look round and got to take it for a drive

from the moment you sit in the drivers seat it just feels amazng.... the recaros are very supportive and really pinch you in place as well as sitting quite low to the floor, the driving position is great and the feel of the momo SRS steering wheel higher up in front of you just reassures you that it's going to be fun :wow:

then the drive... the car seems VERY responsive. gear changes are very snappy and percise, steering is super direct, the engine revs so freely and the car just feels super smooth and planted trough corners!

then vtec... never driven a vtec car before and i seemed to drive the car by watching the rev counter, not the speedo! watching the needle rise up and waiting for that awesome sound at 6100rpm is just immense and then seeing it pull all the way up to almost 10k is fantastic

i can really see now why people saw the EK9 is a special car, the combination of the driving position, percision of the handling and response from the high revving engine just keep a huge grin planted on your face :woot:

only a week on friday before i go back down to pick up the car and i cannot wait :lock:

I didn't end up test driving a dc2, as like most my heart was always set on getting an ek9,

Anyways found one I'm very happy with now, just waiting on the phone call to tell me its ready to pick up itching to drive her again! :D

I too had to choose if I wanted a dc2 or ek9. But the exterior & interior of the EK9 looked better than the dc2. Also the price for the EK9 in japan was more expensive than dc2. Thats why i chose the EK9. i didnt care if the dc2 was faster. i was sold by the whole package.
