Hello again another question for you lot,

i want the facelift model but not sure whether to save a little money and have the pre facelift model. the pre facelift is easier to get hold of but i would prefer the face lift

what is the difference apart from the bumper that is all i can spot.. any advice ?

cheers adam :nice:

p.s. if i get a facelift bumper later on can it be fitted to the pre facelift model?

hi there i the headlight are different on the facelift to me it looks more shaper and nice i think and also the tail light is also different the indicator light are clear on the facleift orange on the pre if u do get a facelift bumper you will have to change alot such as bonnet headlight and fenders if im correct there some thread around the forum if u can find it. also the interior is a bit different in the facelift i can find the thread but i bet some one will

there's a few bits different

headlights
taillights
front bumper
grille
dashboard
ecu
cams
fuel rail
intake manifold
some suspension parts and arms

all have slight differences

so which is the best togo for performance wise as that is all that really matters ..

i want to go for the face lift aswell but i have foubd the other thred that says that the ecu is harder to get on with and tune is theis correct, i know nothing about ECU's and saying it is trickier to ture means it is going to be a game for me? any suggestions?

Hey Adam, in terms of performance both models are exactly the same!! Horsepower, torque, brakes, suspension, weight.... are all the same. The ECU of the facelift is slighty different and indeed more difficult to tune. As for the front bumper, it will be a bit challenging to fit that properly on a pre-facelift or the opposite because the headlights are different so you will have to work on your bumper before you install it :( For interior, the facelift has different center console with more carbon, and A/C buttons instead of the sliders in the pre-facelift and also the rear headlights of the facelift have a clear layer instead of orange. That's it! :nice:

Theres a lot of scattered information in this thread. To do a 99-00 conversion you will need the hood, bumper, fenders, headlights, front grill, and a little bit of modification to the front bumper mount http://www.jdmuniverse.com/forums/view.php?pg=ekconversion . If you want a 97-98 ek9 to look like a later model on the outside, but not deal with obd2, just do a 99-00 conversion and get the 99-00 tail lights, and since ek9's have the front lip, you will want a 99-00 ek9 front lip. 99-00 hood and front bumper are not ek9 specific, but the grill and headlights are.

tanks for the advice boys think i am going for the face lift model its the one i want so gotta go 4 it,

might be sooner than later though so will have pics when i do

cheers again

:nice:

I prefer the facelift, the dash board and headlights looks awesome, for tuning the ecu is easier + cheaper to tune the obd2a ecu than the obd2b, for example the apexi power fc + commander comes only in obd2a version ;)

Hello everyone :woot: ,

I've been lurking on here for a little while now! Reading up as much as I can on the EK9 and this will be my next toy :ek9: I previously owned a CW UK spec ITR, but sold that to fund a property purchase.

Excuse me for being a little dim  , but would I be right in thinking the following:

obd2a = pre facelift
obd2b = facelift

Also, if you have the obd2b ECU, then would the apexi power fc + commander not work?

Hey, the site pretty cool and seems to have a good little community going on.

Cheers

Simon

You are right :woot: Apexi Power FC is only compatible with obd1 (pre-facelift). Hey, where are you from? If you spell your name in French, it pertains to a female. Am i correct? :nerv:

My 'handle' is simone, but its really simon. I wanted to pick simon on Honda Rev's, but that wasn't availble, so being lazy I just added an 'e' to the end of my name, clicked on enter and it accepted it.

My forum handle always gets people :D I use the same handle on the DC2 forum.

I just checked in the resource section and it just seems that you just need to get a conversion harness from obd2b to obd2a. Thank you rvm for post in the resource section, your a star :D

I left my ITR std (apart for brakes for track use), so when I get my EK9, I just want to change a little here and a little there ;) Got a few ideas in my head :D

hehe... The car standard is a great machine already... my advice is to drive it standard first, appreciate the work gone in the car, and when you get bored, or find imperfections, then change it.
