Exhaust Rattle

Hi all,

I recently put a baffled decat on my '9 and there now seems to be a rattle. It's not constant and doesn't come at certain rev ranges but it only happens once the engine is warm. It just comes and goes at random points. I think it may be the baffle is just free moving inside the cat and moves around sometimes. Could it be something else though and/or has anyone else experienced this problem? Haven't had chance to take it off and check either. Checked all heat shields too.

may not be the decat, if by fitting it it has slightly altered the position of the exhaust it could be one of the brackets rattling off somethin for example. Double check all brackets/nuts/bolts that you removed. While fitting the decat you would have noticed if the baffles had broken up my shaking it etc. Did you buy it new or used ?

best to get the car in the air, a friend to help you and listen out to exactly where the rattle is coming from and make a conclusion based on that.

I have a rattle at 2500rpm sounds almost like the car is farting

It was bought new. I will check it all next weekend have a mate who has a garage so will put it on the ramp. It doesnt do it all the time just on the odd occasion so getting someone else to listen wouldn't work unless it just randomly started doing it while it was on the ramp. Will give it a go anyways.
