Got a code 20 - Electrical load detector. What/where is this?

Damn my n00b nonsearchyness. I did search Electrical Load Detector but got no responses.

Sadly that thread doesn't hold an answer either?

Has anything caused this ie. have you changed anything? It could be that your alternator is on the way out?

Um, the whole engine. And the ECU.

And the alternator.

Again.

:(

Double check connections and alt again...hummmmm could this also be the main relay???

Just read that the under hood fuse box may be at fault or even injector clip connections.
The under hood fuse box my need replacing.
The injector clip issue was resolved by reconnecting them all up. [one was loose apparently]

Lastly: from d-series.org
replace both the main battery and trans ground wires. make sure the ground on the thermostat housing is clean and solid. go over all wiring harness plugs and make sure they are solid. then reset the ECU.

if it still shows up, i'll be surprised. 99% of all electrical problems in hondas are due to a bad/corroded/old main battery and trans ground wire.

...hope that helped. ciao

What car is it Kozy? If it's a UK car with a JDM engine the ECU will be looking for the ELD, but if you're on you're standard fusebox, it aint there! Not a problem though from what I've gathered

What engine have you 96+ id guess and what loom are you using, it causes idling problems, if you can remember when you put in your fuse box under the bonnet was there a spair clear 3 pin connector On the under side( probably not) if there was you need a 89-95 fuse box from any civic model,
Or if there is not you need to change your alternator to a pre 95 model 2pin as it's whats causing the code you can trick the ecu by looping 2 of the 3 wires but can't rem which.

Or my favorite choice...... A chipped p28/30 with Chrome It's as simple as un checking a box and it's sorted,

:nice:

Its a 1996 UK EK4 with an obd2a b16b and ecu.

Will check the alternator and grounds again. Now I recall, the light was on before te engine change with this code. Engine ran normally though, didn't seem to have an effect on anything?
