what do people thing of the EK9 with a B18 engine with a nice few mods

would you get it or would you stick to the b16b?

it is not a bad price either

any advoce would be great cheers.. adam :thanks:

B18C Type R makes 10 hp and 12 lb-ft more than the B16B. By stroking the B16B to 1800cc with the Spoon stroker kit, you become a bit more powerful than the B18C because Spoon is the best aftermarket stoke kit(I believe) you can find. Also, if your engine condition is good, you can touch 200 bhp without even basic mods!!(air filter, exhaust etc). You just have to feed the car with some more fuel to increase compression ratio. In addition, you have more potential than B16B and you can get some impressive numbers if you spend a decent amound of money!! :nice:

i think honda should have made the ek9 with a B18 from the beginning, would have been a truely better car, and maybe given it shorter gearing too, not many places to do 150mph.
Most b18c5's i've seen on the dyno make about 210bhp with bolt on mods and some up to 220 with a little more work...

Many guys I know who have removed the speed limiter, say that as stock, the car makes around 235 km/h, I cannot support this because I decided to leave the limiter on cuz as you say there are not too many places to reach max speed.....But by intalling close gears, you sacrifice those extra kms above 200 (which you do not need them anyway :D ) and you have a street monster that swallows kms like I don't know how.... I have seen some and I was freaked out!! I think mate B16Bleight in this site has uploaded a video. You should see it!!!
The problem which arises however is very serious if the car is for road use. I saw EK9s traveling with 100 km/h at 5000 rpm fifth gear. That's awful :(
I would never intall close gears for road use

spoon does not make the best stroker kit at all, in fact they dont even MAKE a kit, they just sell one that is stock b18c5 crank rods pistons and bearings. for the price it is good, bur for about 5-700 more you could get a stroker kit with forged pistons and rods :nice:

The b16 is naturally limited in HP because of the small displacement, and b18 has a little more potential. You can say "just stroke the b16 and its matches the b18" but then agian, for the same money you could stroke the b18 to 2.0 liters or more. In aftermarket prices (in the US at least) the b16b goes for the same as a b18C/C5. I'm sure many people get the b16b for full ctr conversions and "cool thats a b16b" status.
I think the best potential with a b16 is defenately turbo.

oh yeah!

and dont forget guys, stroking motors takes away its ability to rev safely, that can be corrected with a balance and blueprint but that adds a lot to the cost of a build by an average of $800, so figure 2000 for a good 2.0 stroker kit then 800 for balancing, 2-400 for bore and hone, and your at ~3200 and you still have less than 200whp and stock sleeves that probably will crack from the horrible r/s ratio youll end up with... or turbo it for the same price and have 250-300 rev happy whp :nice:

thanks for the advice you guys seriously know some stuff, makes me feel stupid but i got to ask these questions, i am nearly up to budget and looking around for the perfect EK9

will keep you posted
cheers

Oh, I didn't know that! :angry2: Then I will make an in depth research before stroking it (if).
Thanks Blinx
