has anyone of you actually driven and compared these three gen of CTR??? in terms of overall performance? doesn't care if EK loses i still luv it just i wanna know the results only, can someone help me out here?

the best one out of the ek9 n the ep3 is the 9 by far. just dont get the same feed back from the ep. the 9 is a drivers car gives u a big smile every time u drive one. ep3 just feels like any other modern car to new for my liking. but i do like where the gear stick is on the ep3 just where u need it for back roads or track days.

the FD2 looks awsume and going by the books and figs it kicks ass out the other ones by a fair bit

like i said, there aren't any specific test on all three CTR's on track.........mayb their scare the first one will whack the others both ? hehe

definitely, EK9 is more aggressive as some would put it that way, compare to EP, don't know y mayb is the i-VTEC thingy?? plus EK uses whole sets of double wishbone, while EP's Mcperson would have theoretically lose some marks on there, plus the overall kurb weigh, styling, dynamics are all into EK but realli, EP can get into and out of a corner much more faster than EK thats the truth, they've test it.....or its a conspiracy to blind our eyes?

I'll say that EK9 is a more truly and aggressive CTR while EP3 is a much faster, but somehow much more tamer, luxury CTR.......??

agree with lume about the ep3 being a bit tame....faggy is my prefered word! lol its turned into a quick shopping car like alot of other sports versions etc.

id personally say the same regarding FD2. it looks weird and i've seen one going for it and it didnt impress me a great deal...its also got STUPIDLY massive wheels.

there was a small jap mee the other night with the club im part of and there were a few cars there including my 9...two EP3s and an FD2. all of which had nothing perfomance wise on the 9 coming out of round abouts and off the mark.

the EK9 looks the dogs bolloxs...wll always command the most respect from people who know their cars... and is a true track car. not some suped up friendly shopping wagon.

sorry for the rant...but honda are ruining the (or have ruined) the type r range

yeah well its kinda true....well i guess Jap's are getting all these environmental laws on their way of producing a much more competitive car, well think back, they design the B16B for EK9, F20C for S2000, these car has their own engine , as in their own signature, talk bout 16B ppl thinks EK instantly, but nowadays its either K20A, or K20A still........damn bored lol!!!
My fren says that some stock EK9 kills off a couple of FD2 on Sepang track, doens't know whether its the driver's problem, or EK9's are realli whacking FD2's butt....supposingly FD2 should have advantage, larger cc/hp/torque, not to mention larger brakes(OEM brembos, EK uses......what? single pot ?) plus Potenza RE01-R, but don't know, something just not fit in with this car............

AND THEY SHOULD HAVE DESIGN A DIFF CAR DESIGN FOR FD2, C'MON IS THAT GOIN TO HURT THE PLANET TOO!?

dont get me wrong, id pic an ek9 over any other civic type R. the uk ep3 in my opinion was a half arsed attempt at a type R. thats why the jdm verson was improved appon. but you cant knock the fd2, in todays world it is a staggering car. honda will never be able to build cars like they did in the 90's, espacily the ek9 or dc2!

think these to vids will show alot but they always seem to put the best drivers, e.g. keiichi tsuchiya in the newer cars.

YouTube - type r battle ek9 dc2 dc5 ep3

YouTube - new civic type r tsukuba battle

yeah well, ur right bout 90's car with cars nowadays....seeing the likes of 300ZX-350Z, EK9-EP3......but what i don't know is how the FD2 realli fares against EK-9, from what i can see(handphone's vid of the sepang track day) those ek's are realli biting their successor's tail and wouldn't come off untill they overtake.......

THE FD2 is beautiful, but you can't compare a ek9 with a fd2, the fd2 has a incredible chassis and obviusly will out perform a ek9 in all waqys.

The EP3 hmmmmm, I think that a ek9 out performs a ep3 in almost every way. :nerv:

hence a few mods will keep you with the FD2:drive:
Nah, perhaps it won't dissapear from FD2's visor but with few mods it will stay behind clearly......I'm not sure if you can stay with that car as a 1.6 N/A whatever you do to the engine. It belongs to a different category imo. Maybe on a track with lots of curves you can keep up a bit but that's all. I think we have some outrageous expectations from the EK9 :)

Agreed!

EK9 can't compare with FD2, acceleration alone kills the 9. Chassis is also better.

As with the K20A, even though the gradual delivery might be boring, it doesn't mean it's slower, once you install cams with bigger vtec lobe, they get very punchy when vtec kicks in, just like the original VTEC.

i-vtec isn't just about improving emissions, its a totally supreme over VTEC. Normally if you've got a high revving engine that makes a lot of power up top, your going to loose on the bottom, VTEC tried but was limited. i-vtec is a leap of technology that provides the top end with massive grunt down below with their VTC technology which adjusts cam angle to make more power and efficiently. Thats why the power is more gradual, otherwise it'd just be similar to a B20+b16head.

But really, anything can be changed. If you want a punchy eratic kick in with the K20A, just get a cam with a bigger vtec lobe... easy... :nice:

Remember the '9' is JDM... where the EP3 & FD2 prob UKDM or the real JDM?

Honda JDM TypeR's r all competitive stock... unlike the Swindon stock UKDM's... :D

I had a 1.8 vtec civic new shape (type s) for two weeks in dec and it was rubbish! Struggled to get past 125mph and it didnt feel stable at all!

Totally agree with Jugbugz :nice:

Speed-wise, standard cars, the FD2R, EP3, FN2R will spank the 9's ass.
The K20As simply have more power, VTC and closer-ratio 6spd gearboxes.

On a track, there are much more variables, so that the horsepower figures alone will not determine which is faster.

Oh yeah! I forgot about the 6speed box and 4.9-5.1 Final drive they have. lol

What the 9 really needs is a 6 speed box with 4.9+ Final Drive.
