Hey dudes, I'm considerin removing my rear seat from my ek9 but don't know where to start.....has anyone done this before or know where I could get a procedure on how to do it?

Thanks...

I removed mine recently, absolutely love the way its made the car feel, can recommend it enough.

The flat bench is pretty easy, unbolt, lift and unclip the fiddley bastard clips.

As for the seat backs, took me a while to figure but once you have the plastic C clips out from either side, just give each one a whack from the middle outwards.

All pretty straight forward stuff, prob worth dowloading the workshop manual here for locations of all trim fixings:

Free downloadable Honda and Acura Factory Service HELMS Manuals

But like I said, its a great mod!!

porn mate..yeah you will feel the back kick out more as the weight distribution has changed similar feeling to having the front lower than the rear and the weight savings aswell personally i like to hear the stones and stuff hitting undereath the car anyway

The back seats weigh NOTHING, seriously, there is no point removing them alone, if your taking out the seats, spare wheel, all plastic trims etc then maybe a point. if your doing it for looks fire on but if its for weight reduction alone then i wouldnt waste your time.

must admit i had trouble with the rear seat backrest, the clips for the bum-rest were easy enough ;-)

i fully stripped my interior and the car felt so much racier and responded much quicker to braking and acceleration....but now the interior is back and it feels too 'normal'

Did this to my 172 and defo felt a difference. They were 20 kg.

i have to say i tried with and without back seats at the quarter mile. just because when i first built the car i had no 'clean' rear seat in my hands

went to the quarter and did a best of 14.50@96.122mph

later this summer found a set of cleaner back seat to put in. also bolted a 5th
wheel as a spare in the trunk

now best i did was 14.65@95.551mph

right its on a straight line. but give you the idea what 20kg does to the lil bit of torque the engine has

Are the C clips behind the plastic trim? I need to remove my rear seats as i have no seatbelts or anything restraining the seats for my MOT tomorrow morning. Tried to remove as much of the side trim as i can but i can only move it out so far because of my rear brace. i can barley rears the mounting location for the seat behind the plastic. Thanks
