Well I'm travelling from OZ for it, can't wait to be back in a decent car again!
Was lookin at your thread there DOS, lovely 9, well kept! Should be a great day!
my spot is confirmed, I assume we just pay on the day. The website says I'll have to go out with an instructor first to see the lines and braking points as ive never been before.
we'll all jump into your car then
I've only two seats!
LOL I was gona say the same myself k20 should be very quick on the circuit, although you can't really call your car an ek3 anymore, makes it sound like a 1.4!
I have emailed Donal and am booked in for June, should be a good day

Booked in there too.
Anymore southern lads heading ? Also do they have the canteen/kitchen open on trackskills days ? They knock up a serious fry/steak on the club days
i dont think too many of us have the rear seats any more
does every car be checked for the db readings or are they strict about how high you can go over before i start putting on more silencers
yeah they have a sierra cosworth and they take newbies around for 3 laps, explaining what not to do in your own car, etc.. then he gives it a bit of wellie to show how its done.. good fun

lightweight yo!
Hi Leigh,
I have had a look at your forum on this topic and I thought I would clear up a few points for the benefit of everyone.
We really want people at the circuit around 10:15am so that we can get the paperwork done and start the instruction laps for the Newbies. However, we don't want any cars raking about the paddock at this time because of the close proximity of three churches.
We do have a noise issue at Kirkistown. In the past I have turned a deaf ear to the odd car because it was just an odd car and in the overall scheme of the day, it wasn't circulating that much. However, a bunch of them is different. The noise test is as follows. The dB meter is held 1 meter away from the end of the exhaust, at a 45º angle, while the engine is revved to 4,000 revs. It must read 98dB or less. Anything up to 100dB we will accept. Anything over that does not go out. Might I suggest the iPhone app that turns a phone into a noise meter. Test the car before signing up.
We usually have one or two racing Civics from the Civic Cup in attendance. They are quicker than most other Civics and are within the noise limits. If they can do it...
Incidentally, these Civics can be hired at a reasonable price, if anyone is lacking a car!
For the sessions before lunch all Newbies will be in their own group and will not be bothered by the more experienced pilots. After lunch the sessions are totally mixed.
The comments about brakes are absolutely accurate. Carry a spare set of front pads and use top quality fluid. Also, be prepared to swap the front wheels about to share the tyre wear.
The café will be open until 2:30 or 3:00pm. The food is good and reasonably priced.
Everyone should bring a helmet and wear long sleeves. Cars may carry 1 passenger who must also wear a helmet and long sleeves. There is no extra cost for passengers or second drivers.
It is hardly likely to be an issue with your people but drifting is not allowed because (a) of the noise factor and (b) too many drifters seem to run out of talent, usually in front of another car.
We will have 3 A.R.D.S. instructors, all of whom currently race, on hand to assist anyone who needs or wants advice.
We are looking forward to having you guys down. It should be a great day.
Regards,
Donal
