Ek9 or 25th Anniversary Golf GTI

Hi guys,

Ive currently got an importer looking for an ek9 for me but ive been offered an anniversary golf gti thats running about 230bhp.

And im struggling to choose out of the two.

Obvouisly most people on here are going to be biased as its an ek9 forum lol

Any opinions, comments welcome!!

I was in exactly the same line of thought about 2 months back.

I went ek9 in the end purely because, there more fun!

Thing is with most VAG, you drive one, you've drove them all as they all drive the same.

When i drove my mates ek9 for the first time and got into vtec, the smile it gave me was like no other!

Defo go EK9, if you dont like it, finding a anni golf is relatively easy so dont worry!
 
mate, im not being funny but its like comparing cats to elephants. Completely different species of car. All depends what you want from the car. The EK9 will be a tonne better on track but at 230BHP the golf will have more speed 3rd gear onwards over a "stock" ek9. The golf is more comfortable and refined but IMO the Mk4 golfs are dead boring to drive. About 1 million of my friends and their friends and there friends have had them.

If i had a family with kids i just may consider the Golf and i emphasis "may". Under no other circumstance would i contemplate between the 2.

EK9 all the way.
 
my friend has one of those golfs theyre dung.something wrong with it every week. plus my ek9 smoked it and the golf is 212bhp.dont handle for **** either.

If you are looking for a comfortable cruiser with a bit of go,go for the Golf...for every other sane reason,go for the Civic

The Golfs handle like a barge,try and get a spin in both if you can,and that 1.8T can be seriously unreliable,waterpumps,boost faults,plus the usual Golf problems,door locks,window regs etc
 
its a golf ...... need i say more :angry:
personnally i have a hatred for the older golf - they're so boring they can put you to sleep while driving :wow: ( ok that bits a lie )
