EK9 Not Starting.

Battery is fine for charge I think. I've been driving the car the past few days with no problems. Do you think I should jump it? I'm not sure about the starter? How will I check that?? Thanks.

A fiend said I should jump start it. If not it is the starter motor.

I bought the EK9 in April and have not even covered 800miles since getting it. Have been busy at work. At one point it wasn't used for 2 weeks and I didn't start the engine. Anything to do with it??

why is your speedo jumping?
and can u here the fuel pump arming before u start it?
if its not arming its not sending up any fuel. so check your fuel cut off switch and see as well.
if it was your started you would have heard click click click

sounds very much like a lack of battery power problem. get some jump leads on it and try to start it. if it doesn't start then then start looking at your main earth straps. if it does then get your battery charged fully then check if it's faulty (most halfords now have a bosch battery tester to check for this so they can sort out warranty claims on their lifetime warranty batteries and their very helpful if theres a possibility of a sale ;)

if everything there is ok check your alternators output if ok
check for battery drains i.e. electrical items that safety on when the ignition is switched off or consider if your regular use of it gives the car enough time running to charge the battery after startup. i.e. if your driving a couple of blocks away and turning it off it won't get time to charge the battery

This is exactly what happens to mine if I don't drive it for a while. I still haven't got to the bottom of it and have changed the battery several times now. Do you have an alarm or immobiliser?

I hear the fuel pump engage. I will try jumping it tomorrow. More advise would be appreciated.

I jumped the car and it started with no problems at all. I then went for a short drive and left car on for 10 minutes. I turned off ignition and tried to start up the car again and it did the same thing. It made the same rapid clicking noise like in the video. Any more advice.

I have a friend who said it was the starter motor. Anyone know that is located in the engine bay??

Jumped it and it was fine mate but when trying to restart engine it did the same thing. Not a happy chappy at the moment.

Any ideas guys??

You got a halfords near you? if so drive down there they do free battery and alternator check, this exact same thing happened to me in my first civic which turned out to be the battery:nice:

I spoke to Dixon at DMS and he said it is the starter motor judging by the video. Then I told him I jumped started the car (car to car) today and the car turned over as normal. He said in that case it may just be a weak battery, as the car wouldn't turn over without the starter motor simply by jumping it. The only way it would start without need for starter motor, would be from a push start. Seems like a good place to start. Get a battery check?

Have you checked the starter? Or your battery?

:thanks:

You're the man!! I think you had it sussed out all along. Thanks a bunch. Always to good to get lots of opinions and usually the majority wins.

Thanks guys I think majority wins. I'll get the battery checked asap at Halfords or Kwik-Fit.

sounds like ur starter motor is jammed mate if it was the battery it would jus be slow to turn over

good job! battery tends to be the first place to start on any electrical issues, eliminate the battery of possible suspects for sure!

Had the battery checked and it was a good battery. Turned out to the a bad connection on the negative terminal on the battery. Ooops!!
