Ek9 Build Up *Slow Progress*

got a new carbon spoon lip (old one was damaged!)
jap pressed plate for rear (front will be flushed, plate will be on the dash!!)
some red wrinkle paint to re-do my rocker cover
white heatwrap to do my 5zeigen mani
oil,filter and fuel filter
getting it fully resprayed inside and out and undersealed
will do all the above as soon as its back from the full respray and then get some proper pics up!
have the whole interior out for respray so the seats, mats and carpet have been cleaned with a steamer and autoglym interior shampoo
trying to decide what to do with the engine? id be happy with about 250bhp anything more would be a bonus:
high comp ; stroke b16b,swap for b18
turbo ; b16a b18
supercharger ; b16,b18
what yous think?
i will be using the car just on the weekends,a few trackdays and drag days!

Nice plans John :nice:
Turbo is only way to go high comp builds are proper waste and cost same as decent turbo setup.

yeah seem to be, but for my power goals what do you reckon? b16a?
or would you go the whole hog b18?
i have a very healthy b16b that would recoup some of the money!
what was your setup and what power did u make?
pm me if you want!

have the engine bay fully stripped for spraying and i will flush it as much as i can! do you guys think i should stay silver or what colour to match the silver exterior with carbon bits?

i have also picked up a little silver ek, and i was thinking the same as you about cleaning up the engine bay a bit, im painting the bay in my white ek9 blue, but i think for the silver one i will stay oem colour, however i will lacer it as from the factory they are matt silver, i think a nice glossy finish the same as the exterior would look mega clean, :nice:

white or black is an easier colour to match but silver is hard i thought about maybe a blue darker than cusco but i cant think of any other colours, might go a head and stay silver, and like you say gloss finish to match exterior!

Got the engine bay finished, been prepping it every evening for the last week!
There still looks to be alot of holes there but there is about 40 flushed!there wont be many seen when everything is back in!
Went with the silver in the end! thats before laquer so its alot better looking now!

What do yous think?

So starting to get everything back together, removing abs, so removed all the wiring, the ecu wheel speed sensors, abs rings on CV boots!abs pump and piping
Got a Non Abs prop valve and made some new lines, they still need to be tidied/straightened up another bit but they dont look too bad in my opinion!
i used cupro nickel brake pipe meant to last longer etc.

Got a set of Avid Tuner steel 62a shore engine mounts aswell

I have most of the loom sorted too, just need to get the tegiwa sump baffle plates welded in at work on monday, stick sump on with new gasket and engine is ready to go in!

p/s drive needed an inner boot and d/s needed an outer so got them too along with an a/c blanking plug, its all removed!

Gone mad taking pictures but its a handy way for me to keep ontop of everything that ive bought for it!
when i get the engine back in and everything running fine, i have the lovely task of a complete underseal!

using dinitrol! i,ll letyas know how i get on but it seems to get good reviews!thumpup1

Engine back in,Wires tucked (didnt go all out like the yanks),had the dash out too but no pics, got rid of anything i dont want,Painted the rocker and strut with red wrinkle paint, still have to get a aluminium half rad,3point strut and a few other bits like spoon socks etc.,
it needs a good clean under the bonnet now too believe it or not!
anyone know how to clean a SPOON CF bonnet its manky underneath?
Next up is underseal, then onto painting interior and then it will be sent to a proper painter for the exterior i.e. not me!!
heres some pics, tell me what yous think!

looking sweet going to be awesome when its all done. I would use a 90 degree fitting for the brake like that is in front of your reservoir or redo it with a bend lower down as it is close to your fluid level height and I know that some members on hondatech that had the line done like yours ended up having issues with the brakes because of this.

yeah i know what you mean but still cant see it being a problem as its presurized when i press the pedal so the fluid is forced through the pipe, if i ever have any problems i,ll know what to do!:nice:
Cheers Fellas!:)

Engine bay looks perfect John, really tempted to do the ek3 now after seing that, we should meet up for a wee photoshoot some time, would be pretty cool, vsm twins ;)
