ok so few questions as iv searched the forum and cant find the info I require, so here it goes. got a b18c4 to go into my ek9 got different mounts which hold a b18c no probs will this work with b18c4?

main question is electrics omg wtf I got ek9 loom how do I get it to work with b18c4?

iv got someone who can do the engine swap but need to know these few bits first an see if any more problems arise

thanks in advanced for any help

kevin

Hi Kev,

-the mounts are the same (although i've heard the mount with the twin tapered bolts are different as the spacing is different on them, however mine was a straight swap. if you already have one of each then no problem there)

-the loom will plug straight in, although you will find no plug for the knock sensor (b18c4's do not come with knock sensor).

-you will need an OBD2a to OBD1 conversion harness which will plug into the ECU side of the loom. H-tune sell these.

-You will need a P28 ECU preferably already chipped. H-tune sell these.

Hope this helps, any other problems just shout

ahh thats great man really appreciate it glad the mounts an loom will fit. the mounts are innovaite 75a not to harsh but fitted fine for b18 thought would be ok but your info has been welcomed. already prepared a deal with h tune for a chrome ecu with b18c4 chip an turbo chip :)

ok thanks will do

right another quick question as this will be hopefully be being started in next few months this is the setup and parts iv got so far, will i need any more? or can i literally take this somewhere get mapped and enjoy?

seems you have a lot of it covered but
get a 3 bar map sensor , decent clutch
and don't use un branded fuel reg.

Your stock map sensor will run upto 10psi if you want more then you need a aftermarket one.

Clutch as mentioned ( my Exedy stage1 holds 260lbft, I wouldnt get these cheap ebay clutches)

You need to upgrade your cooling system, twin core alloy rad at least and I got a low temp thermostat and fan switch.

Use oil that can handle the extra heat, I use Millers 10/50 and 10/60 in summer.

thanks guys, iv rang a few people about mapping and getting a few different things from them, i ideally only want to tune and run this setup not adjust it as im not techy enough lol one was saying il need a boost controller like apexi, not seen other boosted b18c4s needing this??? other was saying need a ecu that can be adjusted without going back to tuner, but presume this is only if you want to adjust boost, launch control etc which i dont really have the knowledge to do so seems pointless for me?? i know there is a guy on here that is a honda map guru but cant remember his user id, i am willing to travel to deal with the right person so if any help can be had on people to deal with be greatly appreciated

Word of advice, ditch the Xs power manifold! Had one on mine for a week and external wastegate pipe cracked and fell off, got it welded then 3 weeks later 5 large cracks at welds on manifold. Scrapped it and got go-autoworks manifold.

Don't need to change rad on cooling system, standard works fine

I have hondata boost control on mine, when it wasn't on it the boost dropped off up in the rev range. What boost you gonna be running?

where can i get one of them from? and are they expensive?

not planning on running much boost lookin for around 280-300bhp so think about 7psi should be ok

What? The manifold? Got it from the states GO-AUTOWORKS Cast Iron Turbo Manifolds Works out about £120-130 delivered, it may be a cast but it will never crack, really good manifold. I'm running a Garrtett T3 A/R 0.42 and it's on full boost of 10psi at 3k rpm. Also the external wastegate flange is positioned in the center which is better.

Still would reccomend electronic boost control so it can hold the boost higher up in the revs

I disagree, granted my turbo is water cooled, which superheats the water system more, but better safe than sorry, £150 on the cooling system for peace of mind, is a small price to pay. On the dyno my factory fan wasnt kicking in until 95* thats why I got the low temp stat and switch.
I'm still addressing the heat situation on mine, as I want to be able to use it hard without worrying... I'm fitting a post turbo rad aswell as heat wrapping some of my manifold and down pipe, vented bonnet etc

Contact Will @ RDT for mapping, he is a member on here... :nice:

Ditch all the cheap shitty parts on that list or you'll regret it. Either splash the cash, or stay NA.

I would personally get a better exhaust manilfold and change the oem b18c4 inlet manifold as they are very restrictive. Also get a decent turbo like a garrett t3/ t4 hybrid and a 3inch downpipe and 3inch full system. Also get 550cc injectors or bigger.

As for mapping I would go straight to Racetech as my setup was mapped by him and after 2 - 3 years running like a dream.

Ricky has done over 400bhp on the stock intake...! I only swapped mine as the the stock one is so ugly!
