Coming up in a couple months me and a couple mates are going for a track day at brands hatch, so basically i have a couple paydays since then and am trying to get it as best for the track as possible, my main aim is obviously to get some fair lap times in. are there any important things that will need changing or renewing before going? i was going to do all the obvious things

Engine and gearbox oil change
plug change
brake pad and fluid change
camber/toe setup for for mild track
decent part worn tyres
and if ive got the money and it comes up cheap a S80 gearbox with LSD

i have/ will have a couple suspension mods already done but just want to fine tune it
Full coilovers, proper rear and front ARB, subframe brace and LCA, front and rear camber kit, rear toe kit

Anything else?

Unless there's something wrong with your plugs I don't know why you'd change them.
Similar with the gearbox oil. If you think it needs changing anyway due to the time it's been in there then go for it, but if it's shifting nicely etc then I'd just leave it be.

Personally, I would just have the car in good running order - maybe upgrade pads and fluid - and just do the trackday. If you like it then do a few more with the money you would have spent and then you can look at upgrading your car as you learn to reach the limits of what you've got.

Fair enough matey you have saved me a few ££ ill do pads and fluid, just want it as good as i can get it in the time :) haha

Cheers dude

Yep not a problem I'm on it haha! Ill order some more bits up to spruce the ek up :)

it would do no harm to do a coolant flush and engine oil and gearbox oil change as well as oil filter and plugs. brake fluid and power steering fluid should be checked r changed as both could boil under track conditions if not in good condition

I track my car I do change the engine oil regularly however never changed the gearbox oil well not on my EK guess the main thing is the cool down period after racing round track I know when I've been out too long when there's loads of smoke coming from the brakes I'm still on oem pads they doing the job so far main thing is be safe and check all area's of the car

Never done a trackday but from my understanding doing what people have advised as above, change all the fluids. Change the oil filter too.

With gearbox oil I used Land Rover MTF on my CRX, did notice a bit of a change in the gearing but not massive but definitely worth changing it especially after a trackday.

For the trackday you will need IMO:

-Decent pads, EBC yellow's at least, OEM Disc's are usaully fine providing there not cheap motorfactor stuff
-Performance based tyres
-Brake fluid changed with Motul RBF or similar
-If your on the stock radiator and your driving hard and say full 15min-20min sessions, I'd keep the heat on to keep the temps down
-Engine Oil, gearbox and plugs will do no harm at all

I've got a trackday in less than a month and I can't wait :nice:
