Ek4 Springs On Ek9

HEY GUYS,

JUST TRYING TO FIND OUT IF EK4 LOWERING SPRINGS WILL WORK ON A EK9. CANT FIND THE SPRINGS I WANT FOR THE EK9 SO I HAD TO SETTLE FOR WHAT I GOT. THEY R TANABE DF210 THEY SAY THEY LOWER THE EK4 1.8 INCHES IN THE FRONT AND THE REAR I GOT THEM FROM HOPUPRACING.COM(EXCELLENT COMPANY) IF THEY DO FIT I AM ALSO WONDERING IF IT WILL LOWER MY CAR THE SAME AMOUNT AS THE EK4 (1.8)

PLEASE HELP.:thanks:
 
they should fit alrite....all civics seem 2 take the same size spring diameter wise
 
it should be lowered the same amount alrite all the civics has pretty much the same shock setup there is jus a few small differences that make the ek9 better!!
 
all springs for civic 92-00 are the same, the only time the car dosent really get lower the same is if you put the springs on a eg, since there so light, or if your car is lightend like mine, i put springs on and it was still almost stock height, so i just cut them for now.

yup, depends how much the weight difference is though. my car is 2250lbs any springs i put only drop the car half of what its supposed to, and it never lowers the car evenly, passenger side is always higher :angry2: luckily my schocks are height adjustable, so i just cut my springs and adjusted the height from the shock to make them even :nice:
 
there is only 30kilos in the difference between the ek4 an ek9 it should be dropped roughly the same height its not that much of a weight difference to affect the spring that much
 
i've always thought the ek9 springs where stiffer. my ek4 sits 1 inch higher than my ek9 if that helps :)
 
ek9 springs are stiffer, 240lbs front and rear. here is a list of some spring rates from popular springs for 96-00 civics:

Aftermarket springs for the ek4 will fit a ek9 but more often than not the spring rates on a aftermarket ek4 spring are actually softer than the standard spring rate of the ek9 spring in effect lowering your car but ruining your handelling ,i experienced this when i fiited tanabe gf210 springs for a ek4 on my ek9 the car looked good but handelled like crap i mean CRAP so i looked and the spring rates of the tanabe gf210 springs were way softer than that of the standard ek9 spring rates ,my advice is dont fit then and send them back or swap them for some specific ek9 fitment springs e.g tein's, spoon,etc the stock ek9 set up us very hard to beat any way with just springs alone
 
They say they are 10-15% stiffer then an ek4's stock springs not ek9's

yes they are different units of measure, the CTR spring rate in kg is:

4.3 kg/mm front and rear

so the tanabe is a little stiffer up front but softer in ther rear when comapred to stock ctr.

HAHAHAHAHA so rvm or neo ban jewels huh? i was going to ban him myself but i thought maybe he would calm down, he was using foul language directed at other users for NO reason, he kept freaking out and criticizing people, and if thye disagreed he's say somehing like "will stick that up your **** you ****" which is not tolerated here, even though a lot of us argue sometimes we NEVER INSULT each other directly with bad words. and everytime i asked him to calm down, he would say "if you want me to leave just say so" or "if your gonna ban me just do it" so he was really asking for it.

youve got the wrong idea here, first this is not honda-tech, second you can criticize till your hearts content, we do it all the time :nice: but to tell some one to fuk off for no reason is just not acceptable, even on honda-tech i posted a message to someone saying "suk my dik" and i got a pm from a mod. the only reason honda-tech has so much of that **** is becuase the site is HUGE and its harder for them to catch it, plus im sure youve noticed everyone is polite here, sure we argue, but as manos said, directly insulting someone is different and childish. this is a tech forum :nice: if i can find some of his old posts ill send them to you so you can see.

p.s. he's only ban for 2 weeks so he might be back...

Just leave it. Its a good lesson. Constructive criticism is what should go on in a technical forum, leave the mindless insults on HT.
