Looks like your getting the car sorted out but, to be honest the previous owner doesnt have to say squat, when you go to buy car you should have a thorough look round the car before buying and if you dont like what you find.... walk away, simple!

i think its best if both sides just leave it to pm's, cause its no one elses business, lets me honest. and no point deleting it either, cause hes here to show everyone his build up, just dont go moaning about this and that, cause even if the previous owner was hiding anything, id never part with my cash untill i had a proper look round the car myself.


but the cars looking good mate, should be good when you get everything back up and running!

yeah i was pissed off but at least this way you know what i started off with.

as for the lumpy idle i found the idle control valve was clogged up even though i cleaned it at the time of rebuilding the cylinder head. and swapped back to the original throttle body and all seems fine now. so possibly need to check the map sensor isn't faulty

well some good and some bad news today

took the car up to sitech racing in blair atholl, to have a diagnostic rolling road run and just generally check that the engine is making the power it should.

bad part first the run was aborted just as the car was about to reach 8000rpm as it was starting to run lean and simon was worried it would cause damage, kind of sucks a bit as i now need to figure out why it's letting it run lean.

good part before the run was aborted the car was already producing 213bhp at the flywheel.

last time the car made 209 at 8200rpm so thats a really good result.

it's definately SSB it's just absolutely covered in road salt as it's a 2 and a half hour drive to blair atholl for me and it had been snowing the night before

ok so slight thread revival i've bought a 2007 impreza sti hawkeye and decided to sort the civic good and proper as i originally planned. queue one major rebuild into a championship white prefacelift ek9 shell coming really soon

will be photographing every step and everything will be getting cleaned up/powdercoated i will be converting it to facelift spec so some seriously long nights coming but it's gonna be worth it in the end

Nice car. check the fuelling my mates ek9 was running lean simply because the vacuum hose on the standard fpr was not on properly.

I'd. Had it for sale but kept getting crap offers that wouldn't pay off my loan so decided yo keep it for now and sort it out properly. Just need to get the bumpers spoiler mirrors and front wings and bonnet painted white

haha yeah couldn't find anything to put on it and we were heading up their early as had to go to kirkbuddo en route to get some a piece of mahogany profiled for a door at my house

i'm hopefully gonna have it finished before christmas lol if i was to just chuck everything on i'd be done pretty soon but i'm gonna strip/clean and powdercoat everything and need to sort a few little bits of the shell. some rust in the corners of the floor where the seam sealer has lifted and where brake fluid has been spilled from the clutch master cylinder and lifted the paint

as for the interior it's just going to have an ek9 interior. at least thats the current plan
