Hi!
Asking for your opinion, guys. Is it worth to swap b16 into my 1.4 auto ej9 instead of buying ek4?
Good condition ek4 might go for 2200-2400. I had buyer last month giving me 1000 for my ej.
B16 full conversion goes around 700 + labour + brakes conversion + suspension. Same money.
Why people doing it?

I spent more money trying to make my EK4 perform like an EK9 than it would have cost to just buy an EK9. IMO it's not worth it, just buy the faster car and sod the 'built not bought' bollocks.

Believe me i would like to work under it but i have no garage and cant do much on 4 stands from halfords.(suspension only)
Thankx for reply. Sad.

People used to think I was weird for actually enjoying working on my car. Now I look at it, and I think it was weird too. I don't know what was going through my head, I hate working on it now.

I've started to think the stupid amounts I've spent on an ej9 to make it ek9 like and now I've got a shell for everything to go in, I Could have easily bought a 9. It's down to your circumstances really. If you can afford doing everything and don't mind then go for it. If you want something all there for you then just buy an ek9.

When i used to have garage ive been unavailable to my family. Ill be bad father.:(
Thanx for clear my head on this and hopefully after winter time ill find smart EK4.
Cheers

Seriously before you know it engine swap costs spiral. Buy the ek4 anf go from there.

If there was no difference in cost imo the EK4 is a clearly. A better package. Nicer interior, better brakes, rear arb...

personally i bought an ek4 and swapped everything onto my ej9 because i wanted to take advantage of tha fact my ej9 has no sunroof or air con or abs. but for value for money....buying an ek4/9 is probably the best bet

As far as I can tell ek9s go for double the price of an ek4 right? However Ek4s need upgrades to perform decently suspension wise (coilovers, swaybars, bars, lsd) so this will take you closer to ek9 price. However an ek9 may need an overhaul since they are aged too. It's a mess deciding. Maybe look straight for an ek9 if you can afford it.
