Ecu upgrade

Hi all. Not sure if this is the right section to post this, but i figure that its the most reasonable. my question is would it be wise of me to get a programmable ecu before I start buying bolt on mods intake, IM, TB, headers, full exhaust etc. so i can take it to the tuner i have in mind so he can tune my car to make my mods fully effecient? just and brain fart i had. any advice would be helpful. thanks.
