Hey boys, just wanted to write up a review of this header I have finally got installed in my ek9.

My EK9 had a b18cr conversion, Js racing intake, 2.5 inch catless exhaust, and honda 4-1 98 spec JDM headers off an integra.
The only change was the headers. First of all there more torque everywhere in the rev range. Ive done modifications before to cars, but this is the most I feel any REAL gain in. I could feel the gain the moment I gave it some gas starting from 2500 rpm. vtec has gotten louder, and goes through the revs alot quicker. A well worth investment in my opinion.

Now the down side. Firstly, these headers are longer than the factory headers, therefore they exhaust needs to be modified to fit, but simple enough it should only take 30-40 min tops.

secondly in the slip joins(the headers are 2 piece) they looked like they will leak, and quite a few people had them leaking, so I took no chances and got them welded(extra cost).

Thirdly and lastly the ground clearance is not as good as youd expect. It hangs a good 3-4 cm lower than the sump, hence my car being quite low I think will scrape when going over speedbumps. but I shall solve it by driving over it diagonally :D

The headers I got were brushed stainless steel, and now have turned to a nice dark gold/bronze colour. looks beutiful under the bonnet after a bit of driving.

Ill post pics soon, and for 330 USD and around 100 USD to install, The best thing Ive done to my car so far. comes on par with the conversion I did for it.

Cheers

are those the hytech header copies? JVT racing also has one it looks very nice.

If those are JVT and are looking like hytech, you will notice that primary pipes are not connected in 1-4 and 2-3 manner. This is only thing that kept me from buying it. I thought it was bad copying of Hytech header and will not prove performance gain. Whole design of header is to speed up exhaust gas and lover the pressure (and if you do the swap to make more clearance), so the manufacturers use to pair primary pipes in such a manner to help maintain low pressure in the next round of firing. In the overlapping period that is very important because it clears all exhaust gases from the cilinder. So If you combine intake that helps entering air (gas intake inertion + resonance effect) and good header you will help engine rev faster and burn more air fuel mixture.

But nevermind me being smart ass, do you have dyno?

nope, no point in dynoing as I havent done a 'before' dyno. but the butt dyno is showinga very very good gain :)

i'm going to post some pics of different Hytech header copies from Ebay.

here is the JVT Hytech 4-2-1 header, it retails for $399, seller is tunerzimage.

i'll post up the next ones in a few minutes so we can compare who's the better copy.

you have a header...singular...:p

just being an ass...thanks for sharing the review!

the ones I got were ones selling by chameleondesignz? I got them for 330 USD plus shipping. just one thing, one of the reason I upgraded to these headers were because my 98 spec 4-1 headers were buzzing and rattling under certain revs. These headers are doing it also, except quieter. is it normal for them to buzz slightly? Im pretty sure there are no leaks as they were all welded up around the slip joins

not too sure about the buzzing/rattling as i have never changed the header on both our EK9 & EK4 sedan but if i find a good bargain i might be tempted to buy a Hytech copy header.

anyway i have found another & this one is a lot cheaper.

the seller is fastwayracer & it retails for $230, this is the lowest i have seen yet.

as for the buzzing I think its due to the pipes at the collectors being so close and may be slightly touching under certain revs. but with the gain I got, I can stand a bit of buzzing anyday LOL

damn & i had high hopes about getting one of those, i guess the hytech copies are out of the question.......

Im not in the states and in the auction it states they dont ship worldwide so I had to go for a trader that did send worldwide. But Im satisfied with the set I got, and the fitment was bang on. If you are looking for a set of headers I definately recommend these hytech style headers

did you have to remove the block stiffener / clucth cover to fit yours?!?!

ah yes forgot to mention that, I sourced a flywheel cover off a b18c and replace the stiffner with the thinner cover. all sweet as

well even if y buy a real hytec header you still have to remove the block stiffener. they say that is the best way the pipes flow my mate just put one on not long ago and had to do this and his one cost £1200. so the copies must be close to the real thing

Does this headers need to modify the gearbox? I remember reading this, that type r transmissions needs to be modified for this to fit.
