I bought some Recaro fishnets for my Jordan and I need to get some custom rails made up. Unfortunately ek9 rails don't bolt straight on to these so the plan was to buy some ek9 rails and get a specialist welder/fabricator to get these to fit. I came across these rails on ebay while searching for recaro rails:

They are obviously a lot cheaper than ek9 rails, they would sit lower and be easier to work with. Question is would you trust these?

Well it's a question no one can really answer untill someone has an accident in them
I would say definatly not and that you should put them as a high priority with costing.
As said many times before... Anything that holds you in the car should not be done cheaply!

x2 this.

I certainly wouldn't touch cheap e-bay rails!

Currently in the process of fabricating rails to adapt them from stock EK4 to be able to take SRD's. Took a lot of thought to get the design right and are being built with 5mm thick flat bar steel, with a frame on the underside of the seat bolted to a frame welded to the rails - strength and security was the main consideration at the expense of weight.

Wont be finishing them until next week, and wont be doing a DIY as people could take shortcuts/skimp on materials and build a death trap - but will let you know how they come out if you're interested.

That would be great if you could let me know cheers. Just as I thought, I felt iffy about buying these anyhu. Not sure which rails I can use to get my seats in. I'm thinking dc2 as they sit lower than the ek9 ones. I've just found some accord type r recaro rails for £50 (pair). Not sure how these sit though, I really want the seats lower than stock height.

I may be wrong but I dont think the accord rails will fit, also not sure If they'll have the adjust ability to move forwards and recline effectively to give access to the rear (with accords being 4 door). But for that money if they do fit (bit of extra research needed) they could be a good base to have someone fabricate from.

For the DC2 rails, only 3/4 bolt holes to the floor line up, so require fabrication to fit.

Also I'd avoid modifying EK9 rails for these seats unless you're really keen to have these and keep them for a while - They are expensive for what they are and once fabricated specifically for these fishnets, they'll never be of use for anything else.

A picture of the underside of these fishnets showing bolt holes would be useful :)

Thanks for your help. My seats are with the fabricator so I can't take pics :( I've bought a set of dc2 rails so once they arrive I'll be going to the fabricator and seeing how we can go about fitting these.
