dubstep and gas masks

does anybody knows the relation between dubstep and gas masks ?
i 've google it and i found this answer..is this true..
It's an icon form the early years of Dubstep. Ravers would wear masks (usually disposable ones) and dab them with Vicks so they would get high. Then they kept the mask as a sign of ravers.

The main part of dubstep that makes it good is often referred to as the "drop". Drops can have many different styles, but mainly people like to hear what we call a "dirty" drop. Dirty simply refers to how well the drop is done. Many times, the best drops will be called "Filthy" because its so dirty. The filthier the drop, the better it is.

When a song has a very filthy drop, people like to personify said song with a gas mask, get it?
Filthy + gas mask = visual representation. They're basically saying the song is so dirty that you need as gas mask. Its kind of a simple joke really.

Hilarious lol. I remember going to Global Gathering about 4 years ago now and some how one of my mate appeared out of nowhere off his fence wearing a gas mask. I asked him where he got it from but he didn't know. I'm guessing it was from some dubstep dude...
