The drive shaft on the left passenger side of my car packed it in yesterday.Think i'm gonna have trouble getting one second hand as a brand new one is very expensive.Does anyone know if any other civic models drive shafts will fit my ek9

I found them on ebay the other day and they didn't seem too dear or else look for a crashed civic type r and any other 1.6 one should do the job, measure the one of the car before u buy any thing!!

ANY 1992-2000 MODEL HONDA/ACURA THAT CAME WITH A B-SERIES DOCH VTEC ENGINE WILL FIT!!

em1 (w/b16)
ek4 (w/b16)
dc2 (w/b18b or b18c, except for 98+type r)
eg (w/b16)

etc.... good luck, a new one should be no more than $75 at an autostore.

then i may be able to get you one from an ITR, want me to get you a price of my mate? his ITR is dead :(

After talking with Marty @ raxles.com, he said that (in the US) an integra GS-R axle is preferable over a b16a2 because its a 32 spline shaft, with the b16 being a 30 spline. The importance of this is that when a drive shaft gets twice as wide it gets 4 times as strong, so a 32 spline shaft is superior to a 30 spline. If you get an axle, I wouldnt recommend an auto shop rebuild, they may come with a lifetime warrantee but sometimes you get a good one, sometimes a bad one. A brand new axle would be better than a rebuild. I personally just skipped a potential reliability hassle and got raxles.

by spline are you referring to the end that goes into the hub? i believe your mixing up the 98+itr and the rest, i thought all honda b series axles where the same spline with the exception of the 98+itr that was a bigger spline.

also rebuilt axles hold up pretty well, even on our turbo hond'as making 250+whp, but i guess it also depends on which shop is rebuilding them... ive never got a bad one yet but im sure it is possible. how much is a new one from honda?

if you need a ek9 1 i can probably get you used 1 if your really stuck, just gimme a shout if cant manage to get 1

A b16a2 vti ek4 drive shaft will fit fine ,cos its the same one used on the ek9 mate :nice:

I can't remember exactly how much they much but they weren't dear!! and they were brand new

But the boot set is different. ITR has bigger boot joint to accomodate bigger bearings and knuckle. I'm not sure about the joint set that bolts onto the tranny but the boot set is different... EK9 CTR has smaller bearings and knuckle and boot set on the driveshaft.

You need to get a proper CTR driveshaft..

I'm getting one right now and found out that the SPOON driveshaft is cheaper than the OEM. But downside is that you need to substitute your driveshaft to SPOON to create SPOON's driveshaft. Which is what I'm doing now.

New OEM set is about AUD$1000 + shipping. However this price is local price in Japan

nobody recomended a integra type r axle becuase we know its not the same, but all other b-series are, ek4 em1 b18c-gsr etc... so he does not need a ctr specific, any axle from any b-series equipped vehicl exluding the 98+itr will work fine. id stay away from the delsol vtec axles though, i heard the shafts are smaller than the rest.

blinx: correction... my bad

colliemcc: Theres a lot of auctions on Yahoo Japan for EK9 parts. Problem is, most sellers there don't ship internationally. :/
