Drilled and grooved discs? your 2 pence!

i agree with u. i think they are the best. i was just saying what the difference vented discs make cause it was the opinion on here that vented discs are **** really.

Wow really? They're outstanding compared to solid rotors. They don't use them for racing for no reason. It prevents alot of heat related issues.

i know, i would never used anything but drilled and grooved, with good pads. pointless having great discs with shite pads. mintex extreme, dunno if ye have them in america??????

never used hawk or spoon. but i would have mintex extreme anyday over ebc. slightly moe expensive than ebc but worth it i think. have heard of hawk but i dont think there a big think in ireland, and for spoon i think its just a name. ill probably get executited for saying it but i think spoon is a bit over-rated.

What about carbone lorane pads I'm thinking of getting some but really dont know what discs to use?????!

There is hype surrounding Spoon but the truth is that their products work and work very well. They may not be "hyper-performance" but they have rock solid products. How often do you hear about Spoon products failing? I actually ran a search on it: Spoon Sports Problems - Google Search
I tried multiple different search strings and came up with two problems Spoon has. Their ECU's VERY RARELY have issues and their drivers crash occasionally. That is a hell of a record.

my opinion is slotted and holes are useless, blanks are the best to use.
although i must say that i use slotted rotors for my daily because they look awesome :))

should get slotted brake pads instead of rotor if arguing about expelled gases under extreme heat which modern pads no longer have. this way you have more mass to absorb heat on your rotor.

drilling can be beneficial as it may increase surface area (more surface area, means you can dissipate more heat from rotor to air) as long as the diameter of hole is smaller than thickness of rotor.

this should really be combined with curved vane rotors as straight vane rotors are not that effective in ventilating air.

read from TI, quite plenty of info on integras.

oh btw, brake dust dont quite channel through the slotted groove of slotted rotor, they just sit there. same with slot on brake pads. i was cleaning wheels the other day and noticed that theres brake dust build up in the groove and i cleaned it with tooth brush.

maybe it's because i only daily drive it, might've been different on track.

Running CL pads on my car, the RC6 ones

Mental power, although they squeel like mad when cold, great value for money pad though, deffinately be using again!

Blank discs are sufficient for 90% of applications, even on track

Drilled discs would be ideal as they help with cooling greatly, hence why m3's and 911 gt3's etc use them, BUT as mentioned, to get a set which are made proper and not drilled AFTER the discs are produced is a tough one and comes at a price

For which fitment did you get them for...also where from? I've been looking for some but can't find any for the EK9 anywhere :(

i agree kulo...... i think im sticking to blanks:win:

im going to have to order some CL pads me thinks! wake up some neighbours! :naughty:

where can i get some from?

Cool no worries, take a couple weeks to arrive as they order them straight from the factory in france!

Tried quite a few different pads on the rally car and carbone lorraine are by far the best, they're raved about on the rally forums too.

My mate had them on evo 6 and Christ! It nearly ripped my face off! Haha
but I think that may have something to do with the brembos to.....

Ask anyone I took out round the Ring, they all came back with whiplash raving about the brakes, haha

Well I ordered some! :) £130 later! Haha should be hear
Next week can't wait to feel these bad boys!

Currently, I have brembo blanks, ITR blanks and they are already warped after only 5K miles. A Total let down.

Prior, I had brembo cross drilled and slotted and they were good for 50K. I think there is a ton of ware on the blanks due to heat build up. The slots or cross drilled, or the combo are, IMO better over blanks. But if you are easy on your brakes, use the blanks. Now the cross drilled from brembo are not really "drilled" they are formed/cast this way so there are no weak points, but you do need to keep your eyes on them as you use them.

I will be going back to the brembo "drilled" after 5K miles on the brembo blanks going bad.
